I wonder if anyone could point out the differences in source or mastering between the upcoming reissues and the ORG reissues from a few years back.

On January 20, 2015 Sonic Youth will reissue the CD edition of ‘Sonic Youth’ via the band’s own label distributed by Revolver/Midheaven.

LP and CD editions of Bad Moon Rising will follow in April 2015.

LP and CD editions of EVOL will follow the release of Bad Moon Rising.

I don't get why they are reissuing these same albums, especially if there isn't going to be any extras on them... :confused:

Has anyone seen the recent re-issue of the self-titled album in stores yet? Was wondering if it seems any different than the Geffen release. Not available in Australia yet, it seems.

Aye, it's working now. This Full Bleed LP is pretty gnarly, some Chelsea Light Moving-esque heavy riffs with some more noisy, loose structural breakdowns thrown in.

Not exactly Sonic Youth, but still related (and I might be a little-to-considerably late in my knowledge on this), but Glenn Branca's "Lesson No. 1" (Featuring Lee and Thurston), and "Ascension" (featuring Lee) are currently available on wax again. Picked up "Lesson No. 1" and of course it sounds as badass as ever.

I got a Mats Gustafsson & Thurston Moore CD last night at Cafe OTO, it's called "Hit The Wall". On Smalltown Superjazzz label. Is this new?

It was featured in an ad in The Wire in 2010 under "coming soon". Never seen it on the Smalltown web site, or anywhere since. Did they have a lot of copies? Maybe you got lucky and scored one of few promos/testpresses they wanted to rid themselves of?

Smalltown Superjazzz have been restructuring the label recently, this has been shelved for years along with several Mats Gustafsson releases. Glad to see it finally surface.

He had about 10 or so copies for sale last night..
