Lee & Steve at 'The Bells: A Daylong Celebration of Lou Reed' - LIVE STREAM! JULY 30!

YOW! How come this hasn't been posted? It's this freakin' Saturday! SOMEBODY PLEASE CAPTURE THE STREAMS! The details:

Quote:

Lou Reed’s art drew its energy from the worlds of poetry, pop music, experimental composition, and much more—so naturally Lincoln Center’s all-day celebration of this New York icon will be inspired by a diverse range of creative fields. Curated by two of Reed’s closest collaborators, musician and wife Laurie Anderson and friend and producer Hal Willner, The Bells offers revelers the chance to join a 360-degree Lou Reed experience. Begin the day as Reed would have, with an open class led by Reed’s tai chi instructor, Master Ren GuangYi, who will also offer an advanced weapon demonstration later in the afternoon. The commemoration then continues with live performances of Reed’s music by notable bands, an immersive installation of his six-guitar drone music, and readings of his lyrics by noted authors and actors.

When night falls, friends and admirers come together for a set of Reed’s love songs, given fresh voice by a cross-genre cast of musicians who are keen to pay tribute to this visionary solo artist and founding member of The Velvet Underground. To close out the evening, grab a pair of headphones for a late-night screening of Julian Schnabel’s Berlin, a critically acclaimed film documenting Reed’s 2006 performances at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn.

Hmm, http://70.32.78.35/sonic-cal/functio...&showCat=&oc=1 says "Lee and Steve are both performing in the afternoon session". No mention of playing at 11:30 AM ("Those aren't rock & roll hours" Paul Westerberg). But still! Take no chances!

greenlight 07.29.2016 04:52 AM

thanks! so is it on this Sat. and can (where) you stream it?

Chris Lawrence 07.29.2016 11:51 AM

http://livestream.com/LincolnCenter/...ou-reed-part-1 seems seems to be the link for the live music. I think it starts at 11:30am but will continue with multiple guests, not sure if Lee/Steve join up later or...? Huge fan of Lou's music so I'll probably just tune in anyway. This whole day looks amazing, actually!

So maybe it won't end up on their "Archived Events". RECORD IT. RECORD IT. RECORD IT. Record part 2 as well! I'd do it myself! But I can't capture Flash shit! Goddammit!

Yes, that was "Men Of Good Fortune". He threw a Trump reference in there, as the song demanded — "Men of good fortune often cause empires to fall [...] Men of good fortune very often can't do a thing..."

Chris Lawrence 07.30.2016 02:04 PM

Watching the stream now, so far we've got:

Ocean (Lee vox)
Temptation Inside the Heart
Run Run Run
Sweet Jane

Lee and Steve on all but "RRR" so far. HOLY FUCK they're starting THE BLUE MASK!!! DAaaaaammmmnnn never thought I'd hear Lee tear into this one! EDIT: Wait it's fucking Disco Mystic?? HAHA

set list:

Ocean (Lee vox)
Temptation Inside The Heart
*Run Run Run
Sweet Jane
Disco Mystic
I'm Set Free
*I'm Sticking With You
I Believe in Love
Sister Ray

Lee and Steve on all except *

"Disco Mystic" was amazing...the whole thing was actually pretty cool as a big Lou fan! It was a bit Velvet heavy but I understand why. I hope someone can capture it.

halgreen 07.30.2016 02:35 PM

It looks the archived stream has less songs than the original stream...

greenlight 07.30.2016 03:31 PM

I missed it. have to check archives..

I've already tried three different Firefox add-ons that promise to capture Flash videos. All I got was a buncha unplayable files with the ".undefined" extension, which apparently means the bloody video is "protected". Fuck this. I've done what I could. Now you fuckers have less than 24 hours to capture this shit or I will send all y'alls a massive trojan virus. :D
