recent discoveries:

Pavement- had Wowee Zowee for a long time, liked it, but only recently bought slanted and enchanted and brighten the corners. They're utterly superb.
The Stooges - Bought their debut and Fun House on picture discs, incredible.
XBXRX -Wars, fantastic.
Whirlwind Heat - Do Rabbits Wonder and Types of Wood. Highly reccomended, as only a band that references the greatest album cover ever in their name could be...

atsonicpark 03.18.2008 08:41 AM

I hated them at first for breaking up ATD-I, now i LOVE them, these guys can do NO WRONG! they remind me of sonic youth in that "they are hard to get into" kind of way.

I am never in the right mood to listen to The Mars Volta!! I always end up getting bored after a few minutes. Although I do really like de-loused in the comatorium, it's a lot easier to listen to than other albums.

yeah, de-loused is amazing, i am really loving the last song 'Ambuletz' at the moment! If you like De-Loused then you would love the Tremulant! EP

atsonicpark 03.20.2008 11:59 AM

I've been working my way through the entire john fahey discography.. also: fishtank ensemble, rabinical school dropouts, don salsa (craziest band I've EVER heard), whooalicious, all the farmers market stuff (new album on ipecac will most likely be one of the best albums of the year), slimey things (similiar to darth vegas/vicious hairy mary type stuff), sump pumps (similiar to brainiac), time of orchids, samla mammas manna, stormy six, cassiber, ground zero, magma, national health, red masque, tinklepotty, motor totemist guild, three day stubble, dieselhead, johnnyboy, latimer, and older mx-80 sound stuff..

krastian 03.20.2008 12:18 PM

I'm not really a big Animal Collective fan or anything, but for the life of me, I cannot stop listening to Panda Bear.

It surprised the shit out of me that I liked the whole "I'm going to go ahead and sing like Brian Wilson" thing.

i love the Raveonettes too.

I downloaded Moss Icon's discography. I don't know if I really love it. They have a few good songs and some that are either boring to tears either in a hardcore way or a post-rock way.

Guatemala is a good song, though.

choc e-Claire 05.28.2019 08:24 PM

Claire's efforts to revive decade-old threads continue.

I love Screeching Weasel. Thanks to all the boardies who proudly acclaimed them as good stuff in posts they've forgotten about.

d.sound 05.29.2019 05:43 PM

CHARLI XCX's POP 2 is officially one of my new favorite albums of all time.
