fuck winamp

Everytime I try to play something it just causes an error and windows tells me that it needs to close. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, trying different versions etc. but they ALL do this. I swear I've listened to the intro of A Tribe Called Quest's 'Sucka Nigga' about 20 times now trying to get it working.

Do a cleanup on your system registry - with some programmes you get a conflict because it'll look there for existing entries and get confused because it's an older version but the same name for the key. This happens quite often with Winamp because it tends to be more inclined towards making itself be in the system tray, requiring a sys reg key.

Or use a different player.

How do I do a cleanup on my system registry? Is there some program that will do it?

Glice 04.30.2010 12:29 PM

dale_gribble 04.30.2010 04:34 PM

the problem isn't winamp. it's that you're using windows.

something has cacked out in your macheen, it seems.

disk repair? oh, wait, you already cleaned your registry and it worked.

for the record, mac also cacks out-- i have 3 macs now-- they cack out-- "oh, i'm a little color wheel, and all is well..." bullshit.

anyway i run winamp lite in my windows partitions and it is good. i love winamp and hate itunes-- why? the fucking libraries and metadata and the total automation of everything so that you have no control or no fucking idea of where your music actually is. i'd rant more, but gotta make some phone calls.

iTunes is the worst thing ever... the idea that you have to choose from a digital library as opposed to just dragging the folder to the player irritates me.

It turns out the problem was actually a really old last.fm plug-in I had installed that seemed to be screwing with it. I uninstalled it and now it's been working fine... I figured it was this as windows media player was also crashing and it has the same plug-in installed.

Burn it clean & install MediaMonkey.

I only ever used to have winamp, I loved it. Use itunes now and that is only because I can't be bothered updating two programs when I put new music on the computer...

EVOLghost 05.02.2010 10:05 PM

^ it's super annoying. Im' switching from winmediaplayer and itunes...I only have it for the ipod/iphone.

but yes...I miss winamp.

deflinus 05.02.2010 10:18 PM
