how do you sort out your music on your computer
 

i have so many albums in my downloads folder that everytime i click it i have to wait about 5 secs for it to open. so i started to divide and sort them. are there programmes for this? any special methods?

i made folders for noise, drone, pysch/gaze, post punk lo fi, metal, haunt etc. but its kinda unsatisfactory. anyone else any suggestions?

can't because there's too many and it makes the folder slow to open. i need to divide them up.

You could also separate with one folder of artists from A to F, one of G - M etc.

its a new laptop and its fast but theres about 300gb so far.

why not colour code them by the art work?

hauntology/witch house stuff, or anything quiet and weird. you know, ETHEREAL Y'ALL!

separate them into "hipster garbage", "sonic youth gossip music (which is nothing but early 90's alt rock and thurston's favorite stuff)", "wolf eyes" (this folder has 900 albums in it), "bands no one cares about that are quite awesome", just stuff like that.

just get iTunes to order it alphabetically, then separate it into three or four parts...

no way am i touchin itunes.

i came up with hauntology back in the 70's, but then other duedds time travelled and killed me so he could go back to the 00's and pretend that it was all his idea. i am the original g-host. ghost box hires me to add extra crackle and dust to their vinyl.

sorting on computer is no problem. library style a-z. sounds like you just need a separate dedicated hard drive.

sorting in physical life is insane since I'm always playing shit in the car, on the radio, and wherever else. I use gravity for that.
