Attention freaks & fans,

The soundtrack features guest performances from Ranaldo's friends and colleagues and is an attempt to reflect the various contiguous aspects of the artist’s musical work throughout his career.

Ordered! Check out the names on the sticker — that's a mighty bunch:

Ordered, but wasn't this originally supposed to be released as a 2x10" + DVD ??

_tunic_ 06.28.2018 01:46 AM

I'm ordering it too. And in the meantime I'm watching the video that was posted yesterday of the Weapons song (featuring Nels Cline).Very cool song!
Looks like Lee was injured on his arm/hand? So he only does the vocal duties (not entirely true though, lateron in the vid he's playing guitar with a bow)

on the hifiKlub's YT page there's also a vid of 2009 of a song Machine Gun that was remixed by Lee

perhaps the video(s) will only be shared on youtube? I checked the hifiklub site and it doesn't (yet?) mention that a video release is planned

here's a Google translation of the French text:
Quote:

The film-portrait of the American musician Lee Ranaldo comes in the filmic form of a drift in the city where he lives, records, and which he has seen evolving underground and surface during the last thirty years: New York City. In the streets of the city, in the labyrinth of corridors and oars of the metro, in the studios, lofts or workshops of his friends and collaborators, several cameras in the fist follow somehow in the crowd Lee Ranaldo who meets, accompanied by any the film crew, these more or less recognized personalities in the world of music and visual arts. The brief discussions which float in the ambient hubbub narrate in a lacunary manner his personal and musical history.

On the screen are Davide Balula, Bob Bert, Thom DeJesu, Don Fleming, John Giorno, Dan Graham, Mark Ibold, Alan Licht, Aaron Mullan, Phill Niblock, Sarah Register and Leah Singer.

Hifiklub and Lee Ranaldo compose the soundtrack of the film, recorded during the shooting at Echo Canyon West, a Sonic Youth studio in Hoboken, New Jersey. The pieces, which include several collaborations with Ranaldo's close associates, attempt to reflect the various contiguous aspects of the artist's musical work throughout his career.

This film closes a trilogy started in Nashville in 2011 with R. Stevie Moore (I Am A Genius And There 's Nothing I Can Do It About) and continued in 2013 in Los Angeles with Alain Johannes (Make Gods Laugh Plans).

Who mentioned anything about a DVD in the first place? I mean, it would be cool, the same way it's nice to have the 12" and the WAVs, but I figured the "package" is what it is: LP + lossless (& lossy, if you're like that) audio + high resolution mp4 (1920x1080 is the best file you can get and I'm watching the heck out of this thing this weekend).

this was originally planned to be released on Les Disques Du Rotin on a 2x10" + DVD... I can't find the thread about it... it was years ago though, plans have changed

You're right :) : if you search the forum for "Hifiklub" you'll find threads dating back to 2015. Here's the first mention of this release, it was scheduled for December 2015 and here is a post that mentions that Lee wasn't satisfied with the initial release of the movie.

and here is the original trailer, dating back to 2015
