the advantage vs the minibosses
 

Okay, so neither one of these long-time video-game-music-making legends have released anything in a long, long time now (seriously -- 5 years since "Elf-Titled" by the Advantage?!).. but I've been re-listening to these awesome bands a lot lately and was curious what y'all think.

Personally, I'm going with the Advantages -- while they don't "rock" as much as Minibosses, their drumming (supplied by the Hella guitarist!) is top fucking notch, adds a new dimension to the songs. And the playing is a lot cleaner and more technical... they really nail these difficult songs, whereas I feel Minibosses simplify em for rock purposes (except for the bass playing, which is some of the best I've ever heard, period). Both bands are great but I enjoy putting on the Advantage's albums more.

Yeah - it's when you go past the feeling like marshmallow phase to everything being at the bottom of a tunnel phase of k. Which I miss like an old lover.

The Advantage rule. Have you heard their version of Mega Man 3 Title Theme? It's amazing. I can only find a live version, but it's great.
