Kissability tab

I figured out most of kissability in ACCGG#C (Thurston's rhythmic guitar part)will tab out later if anyone is interested, its fairly easy...

the only part i seem a little unsure about is that chorus "you drive me crazy..." vocal section where to me both guitar parts blur together.

Noticed that there isn't a tab for this one up as of yet....

Cool.

I made a version also in ACCGG#C by ear.
Hard to figure out to exact chords though.
You can see it here.

Yeah, I saw your video(s)... very nice! you've spent alot of time on there songs!

Anyways, I probably over simplified these parts but they sound pretty good and close, and kept in mind an interview with Thurston that I read when they were doing the Don't Look Back Daydream Nation Tour(s) from a few years ago that re-learning the parts was interesting because he knew that the parts were much more simple, than what they were doing later on.

By the way, have you worked out anything on the first album (since its in standard tuning) or confusion is sex? most of those songs aren't difficult and mostly about the tones and overtones the guitar can produce, but just wondering.

Having trouble posting the tab in a post here and having it look correct,I did it in excel and converted it to a jpeg...

Thanks a lot. And yes, I guess I've spent a couple of hours on learning a great part of their catalogue now, but I'd do it again anytime :)

Besides, I would love to see/hear your version. Do you have a recording?

I haven't tried any from the first record yet. But in time I'll give it some shots. I started on purpose with all of the albums which consisted of the different tunings - it seemed more fun or challenging to me.
From Confusion I've only done Brother James but it's from the '95 reissue so I'm not really sure if we count that for good :)
I'm gonna go deeper into Confusion later as well.

Yes, I might do that. Only thing is that it will take some time writing the notes down though :)

Chris Lawrence 04.17.2012 02:18 PM

that's true! years ago when i thought people were still interested in the site i considered posting video tutorials of certain (or all!) songs, but never found the time. or like, a 10-minute video showing all of the riffs you can play in GGDDD#D#...

if you ever type em up, please feel free to submit them! you too scott!

Videotabs or tutorials is the new thing so maybe you could give it another try if you ever get the time? Then there could be videotabs along the tunings on the sonicyouth.com page.

I will contact you if I somehow get some time to write the tabs down :)

I love the guitar you're playing on the Brother James cover.

Thanks a lot my friend. Appreciated.
Are you thinking of the one on electric or the acoustic? I've made two versions. I wasn't happy with the electric haha. Shitty guitar anyways but very nice indeed - it's a Hawaii haha :)

demonrail666 04.18.2012 06:18 AM

Yeah it was the electric. It looked a bit like some kind of Musicman knockoff. Very cool. Great cover too.

I'm pretty sure it's a knockoff from something. The fun thing is that it can only play in altered tunings hah. Otherwise it just sucks.
But it looks like a million :)
And thanks!

It turned out alright I think too even though the noisy parts are hard to do on acoustic :)

evollove 04.18.2012 01:04 PM

For the purposes of just fucking around, amusing one's self, learning the song, etc., does anyone change the string gauges?

scott v 04.19.2012 08:59 AM

For this tuning I'm using .11s or .12s can't quite remember, it worked out fairly OK on my japanese beater telecaster some strings have quite high tension because much of this is tuned up from standard, the low string of .46 is probably too heavy and it probably be better w/ .42s, so maybe .09s or .10s are better suited for this tuning, but SY use the same gage or a very close one for the strings that are in unison or near unison.

some tunings you just have to change the string gages (i.e. GGDDD#D#)

yep. for some tuning you don't have to change the strings (CGDGCD and some others) but mostly you have to.
