Compared to his last album, I find it to be a huge step back, especially in the production department..

Did you notice that he copied DAMN with the cover art (same pose) and to a lesser extent, the theme/sound direction?

He always takes notes from Kendrick's last move.. which worked pretty well for Blank Face - the immensely talented Terrace Martin made that album sound beautiful with his live instrumentation.. but this time, Q missed the mark.

I don’t see the DAMN. similarities at all.

I heard pretty good but not immediately amazing rap music. Guess I’ll have to listen to the whole thing.

Also, people on Twitter HATE DAMN. I don’t get it. I think it’s as good as TPAB or GKMC, just in very different ways. Amazing album.

Severian 04.27.2019 01:54 PM

Also, I think it’s kind of a reach to say Q “copied” DAMN. just because the album covers both have figures in similar poses.

I mean...

Come on.

Also, I’m really tired of social media making decisions about the quality of albums after an hour.

It took you 8 months to realize TLOP was your favorite album of 2016, and you still consider it peerless among albums since it’s release.

I think everyone should give this shit a little more time.

Louder:

Still not hearing any “DAMN.” on “CrasH Talk,” chief.

Also Louder:

What are your thoughts on “ye” almost one year later? I’m still a fan of ITAKY, No Mistakes and Ghost Town, but the project has totally fizzled for me. I pray it’s categorized as an EP for his discography’s sake.

Should have been singles released throughout the year like GOOD Music to help promote the Wyoming Sessions.

“DAYTONA” and “Kids See Ghosts” should have been his main “albums” in 2018.

I don't know man, like I said the covers are similar to me as well as the music to an extent. The way he goes from trappy/mainstream songs to introspective "crashing" songs. Kendrick also had writing credits on like half of the songs on this. I kinda see it as a (failed) attempt to make his own DAMN.

I loved Habits & Contradictions, Oxymoron and Blank Face though.. so I'll keep listening, but so far I'm not very impressed. Meaning it's not a bad album but not on par with his previous stuff. "CrasH" is great though.

louder 04.30.2019 06:04 AM

Are you interested in RZA's new soundtrack?

Just gave it a listen and it has some moments. Most of the production is ambitious and the first song is legitimately great. Ghost and Cap only have one verse though, most of the features are unfamiliar.

I’ve never been huge on ScHoolboy, so I’m not super invested. It’s fine to me. Not too bad or good. I was not impressed by Oxymoron, but I dug Blank Face. This one just seems fine, except for Chop Stix which is dumb as hell.

No, I am not interested.

I am done being trolled by the perennial promise of new Wu-Tang that doesn’t suck, and I’m done falling all over myself to get every record with a Wu name on it.

They blew it with A Better Tomorrow.
Ruined a 20-year love affair. Fuck it

Check out “GREY Area” by Lil Simz.

British female rapper. Lit.

Severian 05.17.2019 06:23 PM

Looooouudderrrr...

Tyler, the Creator’s “IGOR” is HOT. Really good. Fucking way better than any of his other albums, and the least R-A-P of any of them.

Have you heard BILLY WOODS? “Hiding Places” fucking slays.

And Injury Reserve’s self titled new album is really goddamn good too.

Where ARE you, muh?

The Gazpacho Gestapo 05.17.2019 10:03 PM

Westside Gunn’s new album is good
Benny the Butcher’s new album is good
Where’s louder?

louder 07.31.2019 01:31 PM

I am back, bro!

Westside Gunn and Benny the Butcher are dope. Bandana is GREAT.

New Chance is horrible, sadly.. joins the line of subpar releases in the last few years: J.Cole - KOD, Drake - Scorpion and VIEWS, Schoolboy Q - Crash Talk, ASAP Rocky - Testing, Brockhampton - Iridescence, Eminem - whatever Eminem releases, etc.

But then we've also had a lot of dope releases that truly delivered: Kendrick - DAMN, Jay - 4:44, Travis Scott - AstroWorld, Earl - Some Rap Songs, Kanye & Cudi - Kids See Ghosts, Pusha T - DAYTONA, Noname - Room 25, and so on.

I like her!

Noname is one of the best rappers in the game right now. Rico Nasty.. Rapsody is about to drop soon.

Megan Thee Stallion has some dope singles and verses. Female rap is doing great right now.

Oddly, I still like Flower Boy more than Igor.

Billy Woods is dope. Injury Reserve album has some really great beats.

Eve subbed at Kanye too much. Still liked the album but Jesus.

Nervous about the new Kanye, kinda hope it doesn’t happen. Most people I know still associate him with Trump, the big fucking idiot, and “Jesus is King” is a dumbass basic bitch name for an album.

Meh.

New Danny Brown is going to slay though.

New Thug was decent
