it's pretty fucking blatantly obvious that kanye west is comparable to kid rock with respect to his personality, and when trying to compare extant rock stars with rappers it's abundantly clear that they're real similar figures. the guy makes impeccable production/collaboration choices ie jim o'rourke for a buttload of acts across the 90s and 00s, so it's not exactly random, especially if you're again trying to equate certain 'rappers' to certain 'rockstars'.....

and just to reiterate the white hipster dweeb is generally inclined more heavily towards kanye west rather than kid rock innit. I mean where do your tastes lie dude?

THose who hate hipsters just wish they were hip tooo

Kanye West is so much more like A THOUSAND of his fellow hip-hop artists than he is like Kid Rock. It's like you've been sleeping on the entire genre for decades. Kid Rock? What the hell man. You coming out of a coma?

Uh, yeah. It's also available for free on all steaming music services. So, keep complaining.

To Pimp A Butterfly costs $17 in the store, unless you're buying from a store that purchase it directly from the label.

I've heard three versions of the album and I haven't paid a cent for any of them. Now I'm going to buy the $20 one because that's just who I am. For all I know, the digital download will allow you to download future versions.

Rob Instigator 04.01.2016 10:06 AM

I like when I buy a vinyl LP and they include a free digital download. That is the best of both worlds....

I just have to say this, not to you, just out loud because it's been on my minds since that first comment about white hipsters...

HELLO! THIS IS A FUCKING SONIC YOUTH BOARD!!!
CHANCES ARE HIGH THAT EVERYONE HERE HAS A BIT OF HIPSTER IN THEM, WHATEVER THAT MEANS THESE DAYS (used to mean going to local shows and local bars and playing Pavement and Built to Spill covers with your college rock band) AND NO DOUBT AN OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF THE USERS HERE ARE WHITE.

So, who's gonna talk shit about white "hipsters" now? Hopefully nobody, because we all know it's bullshit.

Diesel 04.01.2016 11:37 AM

Sure man. Kid Rock has done so much for the black community in America.. I need to delve deep in his discography and find his Jesus Walks or Family Business. Lol.

The most ironic thing is that HE is probably much closer to Kid Rock than Kanye..

New dvsn and Terrace Martin albums are just OK, at least for me.

I want the new Beyonce to arrive already.

Haha not me. Not the least bit. Indeed i am by definition anti-hipster in every way. And ill talk plenty of shit too

Rob Instigator 04.01.2016 02:16 PM

I always get confused. has the meaning of hipster changed now to mean a poser?

Hipster used to mean someone who was hip. It meant this before the flower-power "hippies"

"Hip" used to mean someone who was cool around drugs and druggies.

OK sorry I did not realize it is free elsewhere. (So....why is it $20 for a digital download? Educate this old guy, please.)

And yes, I will keep complaining. I will gladly pay $20 for a physical copy, with artwork and all. But not for a download. That's just who I am.

At this point, everyone seems to have their own definition of the word. For me, a hipster is pretty much a tryhard.. a bandwagoner who constantly chases the next trend.

But sometimes I just use it to describe someone who is being edgy and a contrarian. :p

I'm aware that a part of the hip hop movement was to stay "hip" though.

Hippie and hipster always meant scenster or advanded poser yes. Hippies didn't like being called hippies.

It essentially means they adopt our art culture strictly for the fashion of it. Fuck them.
