Best Black Flag Album

Poll Coming!

king_buzzo 12.10.2006 04:40 PM

i have in my head and six pack, so i cant really vote since those are the only albums i have

TheDom 12.10.2006 05:12 PM

Damaged is the only one that has me coming back for repeated listens. Maybe I haven't really given the other ones a chance, but there is something about them that just doesn't seem right.

Pookie 12.10.2006 05:20 PM

First Four Years is an interesting document but BF didn't really hit their stride until Rollins joined. Damaged is one of my favourite records ever.

My War was a fantastic follow-up.

But it was pretty much downhill from there, with In My Head being mediocre fuzzy heavy metal.

nomadicfollower 12.10.2006 05:51 PM

First Four Years is my current favorite, but their best album is Damaged.

terminal pharmacy 12.10.2006 07:21 PM

i voted for damaged but my current fav is the live album who's got the ten & a 1/2

John Violence 12.10.2006 07:28 PM

I forgot to put the live one and Process of Weeding out. Oh well. My favorite Black Flag album is In My Head because it covers alot of different styles that weren't in previous albums. From In My Head to Drinking and Driving to I Can See You. Loose Nut is a very close second for me.

Pookie 12.10.2006 07:38 PM

The Process of Weeding Out was good. Who's Got The 10 1/2? I didn't like, but Live' 84 was a great record.

John Violence 12.10.2006 07:41 PM

Is Live 84 the same as the live DVD thats out? If so then I didn't like it.

Pookie 12.10.2006 07:52 PM

I don't know, I haven't seen any BF DVD's.

Live '84 was originally a cassette only release and quite hard to get hold of at the time, but I thought it was a great recording of a band at their peak.

blastscenealibi 12.11.2006 12:40 AM

i voted 1st 4 years.

krastian 12.11.2006 12:50 AM

Slip It In just over First 4 Years for me.

dietzer123 12.11.2006 06:54 PM

my top 3 are first four years, damaged, and then live in 84. rollins was good but frankly he doesn't hold a candle to dez. he fuckin' ripped it UP!

wow... that's exactly what i was going to say... stop stealing my thoughts already.

Pookie 12.11.2006 07:47 PM

Apart from the Keith Morris tracks, First Four Years is not good. Tinny kiddy punk.

matt g 12.11.2006 07:51 PM

"let's do it for the kids"

Pookie 12.11.2006 07:52 PM

The ads are quite funny though.

matt g 12.11.2006 07:55 PM

ads... like commercials?

where?
when?

finding nobody 12.11.2006 08:05 PM

Sonic Youth has re-enacted the second half of Family Man on stage before
I like Damaged the most

First Four Years was originally released as a double LP: three sides music and one side radio ads for their shows.

I presume you have the CD and the ads weren't included?

Norma J 12.11.2006 09:37 PM

that was everything went black, and yes, i have that lp without 'black flag' printed on it (due to legal reasons at the time)...
i don't want to get into a punky-cred pissing contest or anything, i just thought maybe ginn was letting the man use black flag songs for gap ads or something like your hero rollins:)

king_buzzo 12.12.2006 04:29 AM

should i get the first four years next~?

cryptowonderdruginvogue 12.12.2006 05:23 AM

DAMAGEEEED

tesla69 12.12.2006 10:10 AM

As far as later songs go Black Coffee is a classic.

I am such a dozy twat. All this time I've been calling Everything Went Black, The First Four Years.

I take back everything I've said about TFFY, as I've never heard it!

Everything Went Black is the record I don't like.

As I said: dozy twat!

LittlePuppetBoy 12.12.2006 03:12 PM

I don't know why, but I like My War better than Damaged. I find the slow songs quite interesting.

I agree.

Norma J 12.12.2006 05:54 PM

www.myspace.com/thedrips Listen to Teenage Sex Camp. Sounds like the best moments of Black Flag.

dietzer123 12.12.2006 06:11 PM

this could not sound anymore like the bronx unless it WAS the bronx

Norma J 12.12.2006 07:15 PM

You're right, they sound like Bronx b-sides. But the album itself has a rather different feel than the Bronx, especially the Bronx new album. Both great.

Edited: You do actually know they're two members of the Bronx, yeah?

golden child 12.12.2006 07:17 PM

MY WAR

dietzer123 12.12.2006 11:06 PM

haha, i didn't but i was assuming that there had to be some member cross over

king_buzzo 12.13.2006 03:22 AM

crypto do you have to make a new sig every day?

dietzer123 12.13.2006 07:17 PM

i was thinking about how much credit is chalked up to rollins for making damaged so great but, though he was awesome, alot of the extra heavyness and aggressiveness came from adding dez on guitar and dez was twice as vicious as rollins was on vocals

Inhuman 12.13.2006 07:20 PM

I barely even heard Black Flag, but I know their whole history from this book my friend (littlepuppetboy) lent me. I want to check out some of their stuff

dietzer123 12.14.2006 12:04 AM

and what book would this be?

Everyneurotic 12.14.2006 12:55 AM
