Jaguar Land Rover lose 6000 jobs. Trump (Trump I know, soz like) partly to blame with the high tax rise imposed on Chinese imports resulting in poor uk sales in the previously popular Chinese market.

https://www.topgear.com/car-news/ins...ting-4500-jobs

However: "(Jaguar land rover) invested in engineering and manufacturing. That includes, sensibly, growing its global footprint by opening plants in Slovakia for the Discovery," @Slavo

Possible new year resolution job tick?...the uk is fecked but hey, every cloud!

wait, JLR is tata-owned? i didnt know that! thought was part of ford due to news timing. but anyway... harsh!

Yes. There's a number of factors: Brexit, Trump, diesel - It's a perfect shit-storm.

"Profits at Ford of Europe fell 82% last year, in part due to the fall in the value of the pound as a result of uncertainty over Brexit."

guess i’ll finally make some time for bojack. is it really worth it?

depends on tastes i suppose but i think it’s great writing and i love the opening credits. the show is hilarious and depressing at the same time but not mean like some british comedies about losers.

i guess you get to sympathize with a reprehensible fuckup and it’s confusing in a good way?

ah fuck, it’s good.

im trying to understand the latest brexit developments and i can't make sense of them in a headache-free fashion

so... july then?

i don't understand

!@#$%! 01.15.2019 02:46 PM

now let’s watch the pound sink

predictions averaged 2.3% (vs the dollar)

how low will it go?

h8kurdt 01.15.2019 04:05 PM

As it stands it's still happening. However, no one can agree on the deal that'll be used when we do leave. May has just been overwhelmingly beat down on her proposal and now they have to go back to the EU to try and get another deal. A deal that the EU won't let happen.

Basically it's an omnishambles

Genteel Death 01.15.2019 04:17 PM

She's fucked. Good.

!@#$%! 01.15.2019 08:17 PM

so the pound fell steadily all day and then blam! shot up when the vote

may got such a drubbing, holy fuck. they were predicting a 100-vote loss and she lost by something like... 230?

unprecedented

so what do you guys think? she gets the boot?

what’s the tory plan? (is there any?)

do you think there's any chance that the brexit might actually not happen?

The fallout from it not happening would be too much. Seriously, right wing wankers would use it as a way to get more support for them.

Basically whatever happens is a fucked situation.
