Bad Brains- Build A Nation HOLY SHIT

This record was completely ignored when it came out, but you must check out. For any serious bad brains fans out there who wish they'd go back to that hardcore style from the eighties-- your prayers have been answered. The band have regained that intensity and whiplash tempos. Listening to it gives me that same rush from the old records. Everyone needs to give this a listen

Take a little taste of the video below and kick yourself for not hearing it earlier.

I agree.
This album kicked some serious ass.

Everyneurotic 05.22.2008 09:34 PM

it is really awesome, and i had that same reaction you had ("holy shit!").

i don't think it's been ignored, it got covered by most media, although they gave it very unfair reviews, saying it's just ok instead of great.

batreleaser 05.22.2008 10:19 PM

lil jon did a lil production on it, isnt that a lil funny?

Everyneurotic 05.23.2008 12:02 AM

you sure? as rad as this album is, i don't feel the crunkness it should have.

therealglenstyler 05.23.2008 02:54 AM

hmmm I avoided this but you're persuading me, and I'm working on a painting at the moment which seems to be becoming a lion not unlike the one on the cover??? weird, maybe it's a sign. by old school sounding are we talking rock for light or quickness?

batreleaser 05.23.2008 07:13 AM

he did stuff with them, maybe not omn the ablum but i know he did somewhere

Um, Rob, "Natty Dreadlocks 'pon the Mountain Top" references Jesus Christ.
It's one of the dub-inflected reggae numbers (there are two).
Also noted in the song is, "Adam was the son of God," and the word "Jehovah." Just thought I'd let you know.

I shouldn't have mentioned anything. Ha, let him buy it and then get mad.

Rob Instigator 05.23.2008 11:26 AM

I know bad brains! I am nearly 35!

I don't care if a band sings about jesus, as long as it rocks doing so.

atari 2600 05.23.2008 11:28 AM

The lyric is, "Let me tell ya, I and I love Jesus Christ."

There's plenty of balls to the wall thrash too; that's for certain.

Actually Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys) did the production for this record. He used to see them a lot back when his band was hardcore and wanted to capture that same feeling live. I think he did a great job with this.

batreleaser 05.23.2008 01:05 PM

lil jon did shit with them, but like i just said, im not positive if any of the stuff made it on the record.

uhler 05.23.2008 01:27 PM

bad brains remixed one of his songs. it's fucking awful.

Pax Americana 05.23.2008 07:00 PM

Really? Is this album really that good? I love the Bad Brains, but I kinda avoided this record, thinking it wouldn't be that great. Dunno why, I guess I just had really low expectations. Now I will totally check it out.

Everyneurotic 07.25.2008 11:48 PM

i didn't know where to post this.

victory records are for once in a long long time doing something right and reissueing black dots on vinyl, it's available for pre-order in their site if you don't want to wait.

viewtiful_alan 07.25.2008 11:54 PM

Victory records are cocksuckers, but that is cool.
