This album is much better than many thought it was when it was released in....er...1994? It really was a shocking left turn after Automatic. But it stands up. I fucking love it. |
Anyway, Slipknot - Iowa.
It's great, but I maintain that Slipknot's most recent album is also their best album. |
Exciting debut album by the band that released two of my absolute favorite songs from both 2019 and 2020. And cover artwork that does it absolutely no justice. |

They’re looking for that new road, man, cut ‘em some slack Anyway yeah it’s pretty good and the cover is shit |
ahh, i've seen a lot of people listening to that. i'll have to give it a listen tonight after work.

I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I find it ultimately anti-climatic: All but two of the tracks collected here are over two years old and the peppering of countless crescendos in every song pertains a try-hard need to be epic. As per the natural order of a cliche ridden crescendo, it's manipulative, a good reason why it's used in cinema so much but especially generic Hollywood gash. I could write a few paragraphs on disappointment but I'm sat here scratching my head, at a loss as to why I was looking forward to this in the first place and probably putting it down to those Windmill gigs. |

Some more Mary it'd be damn hard to live without:
— Dragon's Head - Mary Halvorson Trio — Meltframe - Mary Halvorson. (Solo album. Her take on McCoy Tyner's "Aisha", from John Coltrane's Olé, has to be heard to be believed.) — Away With You - Mary Halvorson Octet — Code Girl - Mary Halvorson — Artlessly Falling - Mary Halvorson's Code Girl Speaking of, if you want to venture into the wild, listen to From Untruth, by Code Girl's singer Amirtha Kidambi's band Elder Ones. |

Red Hot Chili Peppers - LIVE Santa Barbara Bowl, Santa Barbara, CA | 04/09/1998
need some sunshine, it's fucking freezing out here :( I was at this gig, first time I hear a recording of it, sounds pretty fine. The band was a bit ramshackle, John had just rejoined. |

WHAT?! Mother-FUCK! :(:(:(:( |

Why did you do that to yourself? :D |

Well, yeah, ooooohhhhh, I know I know I know I know shut up ! :D But seriously they were really popular in the nineties, especially in my country (not so much in the UK for instance apparently). And John is/was a very talented guitarist but the fame blew up his mind. They got followed by VPRO since the beginning, 1988 their first European tour. Here's a 2007 documentary recap, pretty shocking to see John in 1994 at 58:00 when he was all drugged up. In 1998 he returned to RHCP which was big news, and it was a thrill to see them then. But they weren't in top form, also due to technical issues. I actually have Stadium Arcadium on CD but never played it, the double album concept for RHCP just doesn't do it for me. They did make some great albums though even though I never listen to them anymore Think I'll listen to Janes Addiction today, pretty shoc king |
ok, I changed my mind already
also because of this news: UK nurses asked not to say ‘breast milk’ to be inclusive of trans parents |
^Masochistic tendencies on show
There's nothing quite like a good bit of dungeon punk/synth to blow the cobwebs off a random works piss-up hangover https://urgerecords.bandcamp.com/album/s-t-lp |
just so y'know, _tunic_, that 'news' about not saying breast milk is absolute bullshit. The hospital's own advice has said that it's not taking it out of language at all, but is instead adding possible alternatives for the people who would need it.
Anyway, Death Grips - No Love Deep Web |

having more fun with this than the first time i listened. well, 'fun' isn't the right word. |
