Just "got" Drum's Not Dead

It's suddenly clicked. All fallen into place. This is a great record. Nice DVD as well.

I think I should become a music journalist.

I saw Liars live in 2004 and I thought they were fantastic. Then I saw them in 2006 (or 2005? whenever they last played Glasgow) and I thought they were good, not great. I picked up the record at the show and when I got home and spun it, I was even more underwhelmed. So I shelved it and it has taken a while for me to warm to it.

king-buzzo 11.30.2006 09:21 AM

I like the beatles white album but the cover is very boring

i dont like drums not dead. it hasnt clicked for me. thom yorke likes drums not dead

whorefrost 11.30.2006 09:55 AM

i'm listening to they threw us all in a trench now. awesome

m^a(t)h 11.30.2006 10:44 AM

their second album has some really good tracks. really good...

HaydenAsche 11.30.2006 02:06 PM

I like their older stuff better. Trench is fantastic.

SYRFox 11.30.2006 02:15 PM

I like all their albums, but I think Drum's Not Dead is by far their best, and the best 2006 disc, and even that it will be one the disc of this decade. I LOVE DRUM'S NOT DEAD. Let's Not Wrestle Mt. Heart Attack is so much a great track. Awesome.

I agree....this album really surprised me by how good it was. Some of the vocals/lyrics on there are really beautiful. I wasn't much of a fan of theirs (actually I thought they sucked live when I saw them a few years back) before listening to this album, but I kind of like them now.....it's def. one of my favorite albums of the year.

alteredcourse 12.01.2006 02:13 AM

i grabbed this album out of the blue and i really , really love it .
at the same time i snatched beirut's "Gulag Orkestar" time and have fallen in love with it . these two albums are very out of the ordinary for me and in a spectacular way .
i havent been able to find any other Liars albums unfortunately , this pisses me off quite a bit .

val-holla-ing 12.01.2006 03:06 AM

i really don't understand the appeal of liars. "broken witch" is an awesome song, but they rest of their stuff seems like they're trying so hard and they're pretty lame live (i saw them earlier this year).

i dislike them so much, i'm gonna start calling them THE liars.

_slavo_ 12.01.2006 03:16 AM

I'm one of those that love Liars too.
An awesome band. I was hooked up on Trench for a very long time, then became a bit dissapointed by the second CD but Drum's not Dead revived my enthusiasm for this band so much. An awesome, mysterious CD.

If Thom Yorke loves them too, he surely has a good taste in music.

Everyneurotic 12.01.2006 12:11 PM

i like drums not dead a lot, don't have the rest of their albums and never seen them live.

PAULYBEE2656 12.01.2006 03:49 PM

each liars album is different to the other . drums not dead is great. vying for the no.1 release of the year for me anyway.

gmku 12.01.2006 04:38 PM

I bought Drum's... out of the blue, too, based just on the record store guy saying "this is awesome, you'll like it," and having never seen or heard anything by Liars. I like it a lot but I think the DVD's a little boring. I've never made it all the way through that, in fact.

I bought this album and persevered with it for about two months. It fell into place for me too. Totally rewarding. This band. Really, really, fucking great.

pokkeherrie 12.01.2006 09:27 PM

For me it's definitely their best album to date... I've been following them since the first album, but managed to miss them live about 2-3 times before finally seeing them about 3 months ago. They didn't disappoint me.

drrrtyboots 12.01.2006 11:07 PM

Drum live is a pretty fucking great experince in my opinion. Deffinitely not for everyone but they translate it live incredibly.

PAULYBEE2656 12.02.2006 04:28 AM

saw a clip of em live on mtv2 from barcelona festival and theyre live "act" reminded me somewhat of early sy. sounded great. they appear in ireland every year or so so im gonna catch em next time they land..........
