No fuck me.

I loved ‘80s U2 and still have a soft spot for it. I think my favorite is “The Unforgettable Fire” though.

Not sure what it is with The Pixies but something about them always rubbed me up the wrong way.

Really?

I’m just kinda feeling Pixies-y again after ... huh... at least five years.

Granted, I think they do feel a bit like a stepping stone on the way to headset fare, be it Sonic Youth or Big Black or whatever. But still... no denying the Pixies were for many years — until they started to eat shit — the Fab Four of underground-esque rock groups.

Somewhere between Nirvana and Sonic Youth, the Pixies occupy a pretty special place

THANK YOU

And yeah I want to marry Carrie Coon. She’s the bestest.

Everyone talks about 80’s U2, but no one ever talks about 90’s U2. Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about U2POP

ok, so, i gave it one listen

seems to me they were cannibalizing themselves. i mean i hear a lot of their previous albums here, but in lesser form.

there were interesting sounds in them, but the songs as songs were not up to par for me.

i didnt have a chance to take note of the songs i liked & disliked unfortunately... a little busy morning doing some procurement... but the latter part of the album, wnat would be the b side if it were a vinyl, i think sounded more interesting

i can relisten & make notes later

but now i wanna lissen to their older 90s stuff....

!@#$%! 11.28.2018 12:05 PM

yeah achtung baby + zooropa ftw

they’re like 2 parts of 1 big album where i think they reached their peak

i still prefer achtung

joshua tree 3rd and their 80s stuff

POP was the last U2 album I liked.

"Discotheque"--one my favs

"Do you feel loved?"--One of those odd songs where the verses are much catchier than the chorus.

"Mofo" -- It's about Bono's dead mother. Sorta makes it difficult to slam.

--Squishy middle. Where the album gets it's title, I guess. Interesting production saves some weak writing.--

"Miami" -- Quite refreshing after the previous tracks.

"Please" -- A good song, and I've heard some live versions that are transcendent.

"Wake Up Dead Man" -- This seems like a classic. But maybe it's just a classic in the "Christian rock" subgenre.

It was actually the subsequent album that lost me completely. All That You Can't Leave Behind. Wussy adult contemporary. I'll take a failed experiment over this shit any old day.

And I didn't really fall for the "return to form" of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.

Then I was done following the band. I've heard only two or three U2 songs made in the past decade.

Bono is so douchey that I can't ever imagine myself giving U2 a fair shot

And if I did, I would do so in secrecy.

It'd be like randomly becoming a big fan of Coldplay or something

Too polished. Too pretty

(I have no idea what U2 actually sounds like... don't they go "Hello, Hellloooo Hola Hola and I FEEEEEELL?)

I like a few Zooropta tracks. Like “Numb.” And even that Batman one. And even Pop. But I don’t care for Auchtung, which is everyone’s favorite.

U2 sounds like proto-Coldplay. Early U2 had a hint of post-punk to it, which is probably why I like it most.
