it looks like they're adding the nugs shows to bandcamp. which i think is a better platform anyway. nugs is kind of annoying. nothing new yet...

Agreed. So far they have added nine shows, and you can get 'em all together for $91.20 (that's a 20% discount) if you have deep Murray Wall Street pockets.

Oddly, some titles were from "Sonic Youth" and others from "Sonic Youth Live Archive"; they seem to have merged, though... Anyway, shouldn't we start a specific Sonic Bandcamp thread to announce additions, which hopefully will continue beyond 2020 unless CACAVID-19 kills us all this year? The thread would include Lee and T as well, Kim if she ever shows up there, plus Steve's collaborations and shenanigans.

Don't ask me to start it now, though, it's 2:30 AM...

halgreen 03.26.2020 12:43 PM

I guess that they will have all the Nugs titles up on bandcamp by the end of today. They're missing the Crawford Hall 1990 show, the '98 show, and the show at the Olympia in 2001. But they've been adding three shows or so each day. I just.....need more.

Live In Los Angeles? Just added. I didn't know Aaron Mullan had written a relatively lengthy and very interesting text about it.

So far two shows I attended are released; LA ‘98 & Chicago ‘02. Guess I should buy them. I saw Pelt acoustic at a record store just before the Chicago show, and Jack Rose at a bar the next night.

Chris Lawrence 03.28.2020 03:44 AM

They both sound fantastic!

halgreen 03.28.2020 12:48 PM

All of the Nugs shows (save Crawford 1990) are on bandcamp + Venlo 1983, the cotton crown 7”, and continental club 1986.

I’d really love to hear the rest of that show from the cotton crown 7” and I wonder if the smart bar 1985 show will be up soon. After that, what’s next??

greenlight 03.28.2020 04:44 PM

Live At The Orange Peel 2004 era. nice recording and setlist there. wow.

shallow27 03.29.2020 03:49 PM

Anyone knows if the Venlo and Austin shows are upgrades?

halgreen 03.29.2020 04:41 PM

I doubt it. They’ve been selling digital downloads of those releases through their web store for a while now.

_tunic_ 03.30.2020 05:56 PM

SYR 6 & 7 are also added to bandcamp. Possibly the entire SYR releases will follow?

Lee, Thurston, and Steve with Mats Gustafsson. Originally released in very limited quantities in 2000. Very sick noise from what I recall...
