toxic johnny 03.09.2012 06:26 PM

EvdWee 03.10.2012 06:53 AM

I thought so to. But now i think it's Wooley solo. I find the information at Worm a bit confusing. Did you get that confirmed it's with Nate Wooley?

EDIT: show is Thurston with John.

EDIT: show is Thurston with John.

Nate Wooley was already scheduled to play there a long time ago, nothing to do with Thurston. They added Thurston's name, but haven't properly updated the event description yet, hence the confusion.

I reckon all gigs are with John Moloney, but I was wondering if there's a chance of Paul Labrecque joining as well, like last time in Brussels. Do you know? (because I remember him saying he might be going to the US for a while)

I don't know really but i doubt he will step in. Think it's just going to be Thurston and John probably. It's going to be a great duo.

I was talking to Paul on friday and he said he is going to try and come to OTO so I'd imagine he will definitely be there at Brussels.

There's no show in Brussels, I was referring to the show they did there a few years ago (recording here).
But yeah, I could imagine them playing as a trio in Antwerp/Rotterdam/Amsterdam if he's around. We'll see.

edit: You sure? Moloney isn't even supposed to be playing with Thurston in London it seems.

oh ok, sorry. I didn't read all the thread and i haven't been back from ATP long. I just drove 7 hours. I need to sleep.... btw I recorded Thurston on friday and it sounds good. They performed a new song/jammy thing too.

pokkeherrie 03.12.2012 03:17 PM

go to bed, young man!
(did you see scratch acid and boredoms by any chance? how were they?)

_tunic_ 03.12.2012 03:22 PM

before you go to bed, you must listen to the new Lee. Three times. At least
sleep well

yes and yes. Boredoms was one of the best things i've ever seen and they played twice. I taped the first set... Scratch Acid was really great too...

stu666 03.13.2012 05:05 AM

Cafe OTO:

1st set
Thurston Moore – reading
Tom Raworth – reading
Thurston Moore with Alex Ward – improvisation

2nd set
Tom Raworth – reading
Thurston Moore with Alex Ward & Steve Noble – improvisation

whorefrost 03.13.2012 08:21 AM

Wow, that sold out quick.

alphi 03.13.2012 09:36 AM

Just learnt about this...

Any chance of getting a ticket for the Paris gig ?

Please let me know if you've got any info.

EvdWee 03.13.2012 09:43 AM

on the worm site, it is now confirmed it is indeed John who plays with Thurston.

antonyfisher 03.13.2012 02:57 PM

Hello Everyone. I don't usually post here but do read the comments a lot. Anyway i somehow managed to miss getting a ticket for Cafe Oto today despite checking their website for the last few days. Shit. Anyone got a spare?

Thanks

Toilet & Bowels 03.18.2012 10:14 AM

How imaginative that they've got him playing with Snooze Noble. I would have bought tickets for this but I'm not going to be a party to encouraging Thurston Moore's poetry career.

Thurston was on top form plus Steve Noble, Alex Ward, and Tom Raworth were really great. I made an audio recording and will upload it asap. I really hope that some of his other shows get recorded too....

Jef Mertens 03.21.2012 12:38 AM

I should get permission to film the performance at Scheldapen Antwerp tonite.
If it's not too crowded.

toxic johnny 03.21.2012 08:41 AM

Great news Jef... I hope you get a chance to film it.

I expect brilliance!

No pressure :)

Don't have a second camera this time. It will have to be a single shot video again.

scott v 03.21.2012 09:15 AM

when was the last time Thurston played with Alex Ward?
could it go back as long as that 13 Ghosts album "The Legend of the Blood Yeti"? thats 1996...

Yeah, 13 Ghosts were Alex Ward, Andrew Clare and Switch (is that really a person, a codename or just some equipment they named???)

I remember when i first bought it thinking that both Derk Bailey and Thurston were playing with them but its actually a split collaboration.

Love how the piece w/ Thurston starts off, with an old school answering message recording and then Alex's clarinet and Thurston's guitar blaring with intensity for about 30 seconds.
