New O'rourke album!
Jim O'Rourke Returns With New Album
Visitors set for September release via Drag City. Photo by Kahimi Karie It's been eight years since onetime Sonic Youth member, Wilco producer, and overall indie institution Jim O'Rourke put out a new solo album of original material onDrag City. That's set to change September 8 in the U.S. (August 31 in the UK), when the genre-skipping artist unveils his newest LP, Visitors. (Via The Wire.) According to the label, the record is more song-oriented than his excursions into avant-electronics (see: stuff like 2001's I'm Happy, and I'm Singing, and a 1, 2, 3, 4 or 2007's collaboration with Merzbow and Carlos Giffoni, Electric Dress). It's apparently more in line with O'Rourke's somber instrumental LP Bad Timing than his sly pop records, Eureka and Insignificance. |
I'm going to be a bit more brusque here than on Facebook.

Is that from the press release?... Technically, it's not set to change, it'll still be 8 years since he released an album. Hmm, just felt like pointing that out, had a crap day. Good news though, a new J o'R album... |
Jimbo Rock!
|
Cool.
I guess the album's title is a reference to the album Mr Newton (Bowie) makes in the Nick Roeg film "The Man Who Fell To Earth"... |

Surely it's a reference to that shitty 80's sci-fi series? |
looking forward to hear what he's up to with his music these days. thanks for info.
|
Cool. The "Two Nice Catholic Boys" album he did with Loren Connors has been getting a lot of spins lately.
|

|
I miss Jim.
