fugazifan, I have 3 climax golden twins albums, they're great, thank you.

rob: Yes, vampire's kiss rules. Nicolas Cage is hilarious. The only film he's more wacked-out in is deadfall.

Florya 11.12.2008 06:05 PM

Just watched 'La Haine' again.

Great movie.

atsonicpark 11.12.2008 06:06 PM

My computer's been dead so I've just been watching movies... more than usual!

scrap heaven - 8/10

Really brilliant Japanese "disaffected people performing anarchy" film with no real flaws honestly... though it's not something I'd watch all the time.

all about lily chou chou - 8/10

Brilliant, beautiful, unlike anything I've seen. WAY too long for something like this though (like 2 hours and 40 minutes)...

poultrygeist: night of the chicken dead - 6/10

As much as I love Troma, this was too long and meandering and wasn't really anything new, even though the dance numbers were good (though why not just watch Happiness of the Katakuris for something like that?)...

the jesus lizard - live

Can't rate this, it's just a live dvd. Good stuff of course.

atsonicpark 11.12.2008 06:12 PM

brother - 7/10

Not Kitano's best at all, actually may be his worst.. yet it's still really good! My favorite director by a long shot. The ending is poor but I loved everything else.

kids return - 7/10

Something a bit different from Kitano. Beautiful film.

dr. lamb - 5/10

Meh serial killer film from the people who brought you the brilliant Untold Story. Has some awesome moments but... eh.

wizard of gore remake - 4/10

Crispin Glover, the guy who directed the Attic Expeditions (which is really good), Jeffrey Combs, lots of gore, and hot Suicide Girls in a remake of a brilliant H.G. Lewis film...... yet somehow this is STILL terrible. Watch the original instead.

atsonicpark 11.12.2008 06:21 PM

also watched INSIDE (the french horror film where the chick gets the baby cut out of her stomach with a pair of scissors) - 6/10

me. 11.12.2008 06:23 PM

I really want to see 'Scrap Heaven', and also Kiyoshi Kurosawa's new one 'Tokyo Sonata'. Red Cliff is playing at the cinema here at the moment, but the last film i saw was...Doraemon.

chiaki!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

atsonicpark 11.12.2008 06:24 PM

Definitely watch scrap heaven, it's great. For some reason, there's a seemingly heavy Fight club vibe throughout the thing.. from the way the mai character dresses to some of the themes in the film to the other main character's mundane office work (even though he's a cop), also some of the directing is reminescent. Kinda odd.

atsonicpark 11.12.2008 06:25 PM

Yeah chiaki is so hot, I got this other movie of hers, exte: hair extensions on my desk, but haven't watched it yet.

noisereductions 11.12.2008 06:35 PM

Damn, I have really high expectations for THE WIZARD OF GORE remake (for all the reasons you ended up mentioning, haha). So I'ma pretend I didnt read what you said, and keep fingers crossed that I still disagree and think it's awesome.

Sonic Youth 37 11.12.2008 06:36 PM

atsonicpark 11.12.2008 06:42 PM

It's boring and bad, noisereductions. I was shocked.

Heathers rules!

Sonic Youth 37 11.12.2008 06:45 PM

Yes it does. Almost as much as finding it "used" (because it was still sealed and wrapped) for $5.95

Sonic Youth 37 11.12.2008 08:02 PM

Hooray for cheesy 80sness. I think I'll wash down Heathers with some Valley Girl and Fast Times later on tonight.

Sonic Youth 37 11.12.2008 11:55 PM

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

"Make up your mind. Is he going to shit or is he going to kill us."

"First he's going to shit, then he's going to kill us."

yeah those were my thoughts. the whole thing was great, but that scene where he is just saying "ilove you man, i love you", was terrible and ruined the whole movie. hana bi is by far the best film of his that ive seen

Just popped down the dvd rental shop, and got this for a week for the equivalant of 70 pence....hope it's good.

Sonic Youth 37 11.13.2008 12:40 PM

Yes, I've been on an 80s movie kick.

nicfit 11.14.2008 02:07 PM

jummy go go!

I watched: Factory Girl and A Snake of June.

catched one after the other on a private tv which in the middle of the night airs semi-illegally nice movies.
kewl.

atsonicpark 11.14.2008 02:15 PM

YES! A Snake of June is one of my all time favorite films.

nicfit 11.14.2008 02:24 PM

the "look" of it is simply great, how the scenes are shot when she walks in the mall and the heavy rain shots, just great. I still feel a bit unsure about my "judgment" on the movie itself, it's full of interesting ideas and thought provoking bits but it leaves me a weird, undescribable feeling (I watched it like 3-4 times counting last night).

factory girl was nice, sienna miller is nice, I'm not sure about the actual quality of it either, I'm not an expert of the actual "events" so I won't adventure further in a comment.

hey adam, how's life?
pm me ha ha.

stu666 11.15.2008 06:46 PM

watched this on blu-ray disc on big hd tv whilst on shrooms last night, i couldn't understand what was going on but it looked amazing.

atsonicpark 11.15.2008 09:05 PM

Yeah fugazifan, zombi 2 and gates of hell are both amazing.

ALIEN ANAL 11.15.2008 09:22 PM

yo atsonic
you heard about world war z getting a director?

LifeDistortion 11.15.2008 09:25 PM

Anyone see Quantum of Solace yet? What's your view of it? I read two reviews of it so far and both were saying it wasn't good, at all. Is it really that bad? Even if its not as good as "Casino Royale" is it worth seeing?

atsonicpark 11.15.2008 09:28 PM

alien anal: I don't know what world war z is............ yet...

LifeDistortion: A guy I worked with saw it and said it was "alright". Of course he liked that last Indiana Jones movie... well, he said THAT was "alright" as well... so yeah. I mean, it's a James Bond movie, they're usually entertaining enough. I'd see it if I liked James Bond. Either way.

GeneticKiss 11.15.2008 09:30 PM

Someone I work with saw it (at a midnight showing when he had to work at 9 the next day-not a good move) and said it was good but not as good as Casino Royale.

Actually, have any of the Bond films been "good" in a "good movie" sense? Most of them seem to have a cheesiness factor that makes them enjoyable, but keeps them from being "good movies"...

LifeDistortion 11.15.2008 09:32 PM

That's what I say, I mean with Casino they had a lot to work with, showing Bond's start and how he sort of started out making bad choices, like falling for women he shouldn't get too close too. And those differences kind of made the movie what it was, other then the fact it was also exceptionally gritty. QOS is supposed to be quite gritty as well, and is basically a revenge movie, and I usually judge a movie based on the trailer and the trailer was great. So if the only argument is that its NOT "Casino Royale" then maybe the bad press is a bit unwarrented.

davenotdead 11.15.2008 10:36 PM

Quantum Of Solace

7/10

Snow Angels

7.5/10

barnaclelapse 11.15.2008 11:44 PM

Watched Flawless tonight, with Michael Caine and Demi Moore.

It was okay. Nothing special, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

me. 11.16.2008 08:37 AM

Yureru (Sway), really enjoyed this film, watched Scrap Heaven recently, not bad, very Fight Club in parts.@ sonic have you seen Tsukamoto's film Vital?.

atsonicpark 11.16.2008 08:45 AM

Yeah, I loved Vital. It's great. My favorite Tsukamoto films are Tetsuo I, Gemini (really underrated), and Tokyo Fist.. Though I love everything he's done except for nightmare detective (and the goofy Hiruko the Goblin isn't that great but it's okay). I wish I could see Haze. That's the only film of his I haven't seen -- I've even seen his short films. Phantom of Regular size is crazy! Sorry to be longwinded. Vital rules. It's a bit different than what a person would probably expect, but the atmosphere is just amazing... for some reason, Tadanobou Asano keeps getting casted in these similiarly minded, brilliant films with these really lonely atmospheres... Bright future, Last Life in the Universe, Rampo Noir, and his story in Survive Style 5+ come to mind... he's great.

atsonicpark 11.16.2008 08:45 AM

Just made a new netflix list:

http://www.netflix.com/StrangerLists...nkctr=fsb2slst

25 favorite films!!

me. 11.16.2008 09:08 AM

Bright Future is the next film i'm gonna watch,Last Life In The Universe is really great, even got a cameo role with Miike.Asano - will watch Sad Vacation next week, maybe. Have you read Kitano's story collection?.

atsonicpark 11.16.2008 09:11 AM

No! I'd love to, though I dunno if it's available in America. As it is, I'm currently attempting to buy his last films that hasn't been released here (and he already has ANOTHER film since then that isn't out at all except it played in the festivals and such)... I already got Takeshis and it's amazing...

I know he's written over 60 novels and he has some books of just art and such that I'd love to eventually get, but dunno if I'll ever be able to..

me. 11.16.2008 09:21 AM

Think you can get it here -

http://www.vertical-inc.com/books/boy.html

Been tempted to get it for a while..
