This is as fantastic as the Ashtray Navigations dates. Many, many thanks.

Bollocks_to_Pop 07.10.2007 04:22 PM

You Europeans are lucky bastards.

Ashtray Navigations could've been more fantastic if they'd play outside the UK.

whorefrost 07.10.2007 04:28 PM

oh, bugger grips. i've a ticket for DDN Glasgow on the 21st. still aim to catch Ashtray tho as it's an acquaintace of mine that's putting them on..

sarramkrop 07.10.2007 04:37 PM

I'm so glad I gave my DDN ticket away to someone who might, perhaps, enjoy that sort of thing more. I don't think that I have any interest in attending a SY gig anymore. No direspect to them as a band, but I can't feel the excitement anymore.

whorefrost 07.10.2007 04:45 PM

i suppose i could drive to aberdeen on the 20th.. problem is i'm damn lazy..

jico. 07.10.2007 04:46 PM

chasny is truly a fahey disciple.

I'm still in doubt about the DDN gigs myself... part of me really wants to see the songs of that album performed live; another part of me isn't sure about SY's motivation behind it and doesn't really want to see a band performing some songs in a certain order with an obligatory attitude towards it.

Anyway, I wonder if the next Six Organs album's going to have the same lineup.

I'm well and truly a miserable bastard, in a very happy kinda way, but his music fills me as much joy as opening an unexpected present.

It's horrible for me to say, but I don't want David Tibet to influence him too much. Not the way things are going.

drrrtyboots 07.10.2007 04:56 PM

What's Elisa Ambrogio gonna do? Pounce around the stage, taking articles of clothing off while he plays?

pokkeherrie 07.10.2007 04:57 PM

If he starts singing a la Tibet then I'm gone! I can't stand his voice/singing style.

probably not if the upcoming Magik Markers album is anything to go by.

whorefrost 07.10.2007 05:00 PM

this has presented me w/ a dillema; do I offload my Sy ticket for the 21st (bearing in mind i have one for the 22nd as well) to catch Six Organs in Glasgow or do I retain both Sy tickets and catch Six Organs in Aberdeen. Or do I no bother w/ Six Organs (I'm unfamiliar w/ them; Elisa would be the main impetus for attending)

I'm going to sleep on it.

sarramkrop 07.10.2007 05:02 PM

No guest vocalists anymore. They are like cancer, by now. The only difference is that there is a cure. The more I listened to the latest Current 93 album, my initial enthusiam vanished. Something about the way the actual good songs on it sound like is just not right.

jon boy 07.10.2007 05:05 PM

wow thats great and yes elisa being there could make things very interesting. going to check this shit out for sure.

Tokolosh 07.11.2007 01:25 AM

This is great. I'll be there.

sun city girl 07.11.2007 06:06 AM

i'm afraid i have to miss this, i had to change some plans already because boredoms will play 2 days later in helsinki. probably i can't see them both.

Iain 07.11.2007 06:18 AM

I'll probably be going to Green Man festival where Six Organs will be one of the highlights. For me at least I would imagine.

jico. 07.11.2007 06:19 AM

dont take me wrong, i like his work.
obviously his influences are also by far more diverse and underground.

in a away, i wasnt surprised to hear references for example to carlos paredes on the first album i bought.

jimbrim 07.11.2007 01:37 PM

Cheer's for this, im tempted to go to the London date.

Don't tell this sort of thing to me.

I'll be travelling half of Europe to see the DDN gig and I really can't wait. However, thoughts like that are digging up little holes into the wall of my excitement.

Six Organs Of Admittance + Wooden Shjips + Sic Alps next friday.

anyone seen chasny recently?

pokkeherrie 11.05.2008 04:39 PM

Last time was in May, which I enjoyed a lot. Not in the least because Alex Neilson was playing the drums. The last show I saw before that of just him w/ Elisa Ambrogio was less interesting.

I thought Wooden Shjips were really disappointing when I saw them. Extremely dull and very bland compared to how they sound on record.

Sic Alps are pretty good live.

I saw him two weeks ago in SF. He played alone switching between acoustic and electric guitar. Even though I'm sure it would have been nice for other people to be adding other instrumentation like on his records, I enjoyed it a lot. I also got to talk to him afterwards which was cool. Nice guy overall.

One of Bristol's better venues. And the support acts have been sounding pretty fresh lately. I can't make it, but everyone else should.
