walrus is like they were bored and hungover and/or tired from touring but they went "you know? we should do that walrus song by the beatles and send it to merzbow so he can add generic effects when he's not even listening to the track...yeah, let's do that!" groon is better, not one of either one of the collaborators best works but certainly better, kinda like a stepped down stooges' "l.a. blues" meets merzbow's sphere.

rock dream is fucking boris live and they fucking slay, masami even manages to get some of the synth noises on cue!!! mostly they are just playing their shit straight and merzbow just adds shit on top, kinda like hiroshi does in amt.

now listening to:

i like them

I prefer "Remote Luxury" and "The Blurred Crusade."
I love The Church though; I have seen them many times since the 80s and they are incredible live.
Cool thing about them these days is that they have seemingly given up on ever having another gigantic hit, and they are doing some seriously great longform music that is extremely psychedelic, and releasing things at an incredible pace. I think they have gone through a real renewal of cretivity in the past few years, and have entered a new era that is yielding some of their best music ever.

they were great, although they get seemingly no credit except for "under the milky way", which is a great song, but they have so many other great songs as well. i like the video for that song...it's so spectacularly 80s.

He'll be most pleased. It is an incredible LP; I'm glad he finally recorded the big long piece that's on there.
I've been wearing my special "Deliverance" longsleeve a lot in the past few days. I had it on in my most recent "post a picture of yourself" pic.
Yeah, Paul's really outdone himself this time. Glad to see him getting some love from afield.

SC, Paul Metzger's Deliverance will make my top 10 list this year. The recording is amazing and everyone i know who has heard it has been dumbfounded. Does David Onnen do a lot of recording?

All the record geeks are tripping on the entire package from the jacket, the vinyl to the awesome sound quality. Locust Music vinyl rulez all around but they outdid themselves with the quality on Deliverance. It's really, really good to see Paul on one of my favorite labels.

Dave does do some recording, but mostly just for friends and for our own bands. He recorded and released Paul's debut LP (the one with the red circle on the front; I wrote the liners for that one too), and has recorded a couple of other things. Paul is a good friend of ours, so he came down and recorded that at our place because it's comfortable and familiar. Dave thought the recording wasn't exactly "perfect," but he has pretty high standards for himself. I think it sounds pretty great too.
I am loving seeing Paul get some wider notice; I have been following his music since 1986 (both with his old rock trio TVBC and solo), and I always thought it criminal that he was unknown outside the Minneapolis/St Paul area for so long. He really is an incredible talent. So happy for him.
