Delroy Edwards - Let It Rock!
|

Very inspired by some of the poppier stuff by 80s acts like Echo & The Bunnymen, The Soft Boys, The Bolshoi, The Church and some say The Chameleons. Don't really hear the latter in their sound, well, maybe just a little. Anyway, really nice, jangly stuff. I like it. |
this is great (john LUTHER adams is not john adams, lol. too many j.a.'s) |

It's still three weeks until the new Matana Roberts album will be released. But the 5 tracks that are streaming so far on bandcamp are amazing, musically, melodically, lyrically, storywhateverly.

Just released. Only seven Coin Coin chapters to go. At this pace (first one came out in 2011), that's approximately 17 more years, so 2040. You've been warned. |
hahaha, everybody mellows with age it seems like. at times this is almost beatlesque. their beach boys influences have always been clearer. i like it though... i like it a lot. i haven't listened to animal collective in like a million years... time is so weird! a lot of it passes like nothing. "isn't it now" indeed... |
Big Brave produced by Efrim supposedly it should have Jessica Moss on violin on some tracks, but haven't heard it (yet). Couldn't decipher her within the amazing layers and layers walls of distorted guitars. The very spacious drums sound great on headphones smelled like more, so now listening to their next one: some of their songs all sound the same, but it does sound great there's seems more audible violin on this one |
Microphones in 2020 but its just the intro for an hour
and also: Clare M Singer's new album is up for pre-ordering, with some tracks already streaming: https://clairemsinger.bandcamp.com/album/saor |

been listening to a "concentration" playlist on apple music lately. for work.
it's like having clonazepam pumped through the vent system. it's like "brave new world," i think that's where that happens. definitely not great for every occasion, but many good ambient tracks there (plus a sprinkling of other genres so you don't fall asleep) to aid your focus when you need some long-sustained extreme calm. can't copypaste the tracklist, just sharing here in case anyone needs a valium. it lasts 11 hours! and refreshes every 2 weeks. |
Some Kinda Love: Performing The Music Of The Velvet Underground by The Feelies a very very cool album and also, from the waywayback machine: Mono Sunday 21 March 2010 Doornroosje Nijmegen, the Netherlands the first time I saw Mono live, and one of the finest concert experiences I ever had. Because I was stoned like a kite :D The stage lights were shining in my eyes, so I had my eyes closed for most of the times, and would "wake up" every time the music would suddenly erupt. Which is kind of their trademark, but I didn't know because i hadn't heard so much of their music yet |
My friend showed me this band, Otep. I'm really a fan of the vocals! This is the first song I heard from them, but I like the whole album a lot too!

SHE DID IT SHE DID IT SHE DID IT! SHE MADE MR TAMBOURINE MAN LISTENABLE! not just listenable but actually beautiful!!! she slowed it down, changed some annoying notes, and that voice, that beautiful voice, goddamn, goddamn... goosebumps... she's so fucking amazing who else, but her? -- like a rolling stone is closer to the original but aaaaaaah so goosebumps hahhahahaha goddamn goddamn... goddamn... i can't even... .... .... she made it totally hers, of course... i might never recover from this hahahhahaah. good. -- i need a hospital xD |
^ The entire album comes out November 10, right? Before then you might wanna give The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Live 1966 - The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert a spin, considering Cat Power's LP is supposed to cover that show rather than the studio versions. The second half (full band set) is one of the most apocalyptic rock performances ever recorded - Robertson sounds like he's slashing zombies, while drummer Mickey Jones (Levon Helm had quit because he couldn't take the audience's hostility anymore), I dunno WHAT this guy was on (he later founded The fuckin' First Edition!), but during that tour his shit was proto-punker badassery. There's room for the majestic as well: listen to Danko's backing vocals on "One Too Many Mornings"... Even if you don't dig it (which would indicate psychiatric trauma or neurological damage), you'll be fully "prepared" for Marshall's record. :)

Super Deluxe Edish... |
Been really digging this album lately!

A lot of Judas Priest.

listened to this on my morning commute to work. Started when I left the door from home, it finished when I entered the elevator at work :) Also: random live sets from the Neil Young & Crazy Horse 1997 H.O.R.D.E. tour and: Low's 2016 Christmas tour in Ireland |

Trying to combat early onset winter depression with comfort food for the ears. It's working to a certain degree. |

I don't know if it has a name ("reverse seasonal affective disorder"?) but what kills me is the summer. Too much light and GOOD LORD, THE FUCKING HEAT, SOMEBODY TURN IT DOWN. Disgusting... |
Quote:
tbf I think seasonal affective disorder doesn't actually specify which season it is, just as long as it's recurring. But I feel you, at least the advantage of summer coming at this time of year is that New Year's parties are good when it's still kinda warm out at midnight. Good record Antagon; when the LP reissue arrived a couple years ago, it was one of the nicest days of my life. |
Quote:
Right, but I would have to actually go to a New Year's party, where there's, like, uhh... people... Ugh! I'd go to this one, though: Quote:
