not that you asked. but for a starting track, I'd look into "Baby i'm just a fool", "Stop Your Crying", "Think I'm in love", "Rocket shaped song", and all of the stuff from the early '90s.

Their new album is my early album of the year pick, for sure!

If you enjoy Spiritualized, Spectrum are also worth checking out. Pete Kember's post-spacemen 3 project. Soul Kiss (Glide Divine) is a great album and pretty underated.

I'm on the hunt for Ladies and Gentlemen, for sure. I'll check out the stores tomorrow. I'd like to find this on LP--looks like Plain Recordings has repressed it. A great reissue label. Same label that has repressed Isn't Anything, Loveless, and some JAMC stuff.

Very different creature than Spacemen 3. But I like them even more and they're one of my absolute top favorite bands ever!!

If you haven't heard them, Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space is their classic. A shoegaze fan might do better to start out with Pure Phase and Laser Guided Melodies. Their 00's output was great, but not in a ground breaking way. Just great rock n' roll.

I mean, if you like the Velvets, JAMC and shoegaze, odds are you'll like Spiritualized.

Spiritualized is the best band that's been mentioned in this thread, but they're not really shoegaze. Not in the slowdive/ride/mbv sense. I always myself when I categorize music so specifically, and actually debate with people about it. It makes me feel like a walking stereotype. But Spritualized I think is closer to "space-rock", whatever the fuck that means.

I guess the major difference is cosmetic. Spiritualized doesn't bring "shoegazing" to mind, but rather star-gazing. ... in black-and-white with sunglasses on.

Did she change names again. Am I imagining I read this before? Or somebody fucking with us?

In any case, I don't like it.

Ugh. Sorry.

Ha.

I bought Ride - Play EP on vinyl today for £3

It has one of my favourite Ride songs on it. Shoegaze and an a harmonica make a fantastic combination.

Change names again? Christ, how long has she been here? Why am I even posting this? I will ask her myself in like ten minutes.

What is porkwhateverthefuck?

I don't have multiple accounts, trust me. It's just that someone likes to be a total dork sometimes.

I always liked Moose. Do they qualify as shoegaze?

Gay U.K. book store worker, big fan of the Pet Shop Boys, decent photographer, liked to call me a pervert.
