this mix tape is not as good as volume 4 but its still great!, does anyone have the link to the other ones?, volumes 1, 2, and 3?, i havent heard them.

not to be an asshole, but chris habib has told us numerous times that it's not cool to link the mixtapes for downloading.

it has nothing to do with sy, but their label doesn't like it. pm him or ask anyone else who's been around the board and has traded music thru it to see for yourself.

plus, it's common sense, if sy (or their label, whatever) didn't mind us downloading the mixtapes, then wouldn't they just skip the middlemen and just post downloadable files?

if you want to upload the mixtapes, just don't make it public and pm or email the download links, have some common sense.

if you cared about the band then you would care about what their label do for them.

if you want to ruin the mixtapes for all of us, go ahead and be an asshole and post the links. just don't complain when the band doesn't share music with us anymore.

let's just say the band doesn't stay on geffen, move on yet their ties get screwed because of moron fans downloading music they are not supposed to. you know the fact that you can go to pretty much every store in the world and find an sy album? no more, man. best of all, you are such a big fan that geffen might stop printing sy albums and the band will have to sue the record company for the rights to their back catalog. sy straining their relationship with the label that's keeping their albums in print is not a very smart thing.

so what's next, are you going to upload rather ripped to the board? how about daydream nation? no wait!!! upload sonic nurse, i don't have it yet!!!

EDIT:: in case you don't know, a couple of weeks ago, people started talking about how they had downloaded rather ripped and started making threads about it, chris habib said that the label was not happy about it since they have been watching the board, so chris said that there was a possibility that sy would not only stop the mixtapes but also the archive streams and downloads. for a reason or another, this did not happen and we have a new mixtape right now.

you can put links to any sonic youth related media you want in here ***EXCEPT*** for rips off of their officially released albums and DVDs.

also, please don't post links to the individual files in the streaming mixtapes.

and just so you know, i have participated actively (meaning i just don't leech shit) here in the board since 2004, uploading albums and bootlegs, as well as trading thru the mail. and from experience, i know that you don't shit in your own backyard.

the thing is, it's not open to debate. i was giving you advise and you jumped all over me, i told you not to make a public anouncement about it. i'm not conservative, i just respect.

ok. look again im gonna say it. chris habib (moderator and sonicyouth photographer, pc repair man and cover designer -check the syr series sleeves) asked nay told us NOT to make these mixtapes downloadable or to share the links with others. they are gifts so to speak from the band and are for streaming purposes only. its a matter of respect to chris and sy NOT TO GEFFEN RECORDS. these mixtapes will be stopped if this occours. i mean i think we are on shaky ground with chris as it is regarding this as his last posts here were quite angry and directed at certain dissenters. personally im blue in the face stating this same thing every time this topic comes up. ive been here since 2002 and ive lost count at the amount of times we have had this arguement
sway, this is NOT personal to you, if u didnt know habibs stance then i say fair enough. everyneurotic is 100% correct in his posts and hes been here longer than i. please respect their wishes and if u dont believe me, pm chrishabib and ask him yerself. he is a nice approachable guy and im sure he will set u straight!
