What nerve :)
My mom wont let me do anything money related online, she works at a bank and is crazy anal when it comes to things that could result in fraud.

noumenal 01.12.2007 08:03 PM

I had my debit card info stolen a few years ago and somebody tried to buy a computer from bestbuy.com and some nasty-ass porn subscriptions. I had to go to the bank and tell them which things weren't mine. They would ask me, "Was PregnantSluts.com your purchase, sir?" And I would say, "No, it wasn't." And so on. I'm not making this up. Well, I can't remember the exact porn site names...

Inhuman 01.12.2007 08:04 PM

My mom's usually terrible too, but it's been easier since I turned 18. She wouldn't let me do monthly payments for a guitar a while back, and she continuously talks about how people mount cameras on green machines and obtain your password

davenotdead 01.12.2007 08:04 PM

looks like an account phisher to me....those guys are usually frauds who try to steal your info when you enter your info in their links...check the copyright on the bottom of the email, if it looks funny or is outdated at all, then watch it...i dont think paypal even emails you actually (except transaction receipts)...

Man, you must have been really mad I'd imagine. My friend's dad works at a bank and he says that he sees people's purchases at "CLUB 69" daily. Strip clubs seem really disgusting. Never been to one and never plan to.

My friend's mom used to waitress at a strip club in Kanata and she's told me some pretty nasty stories. I've met some of the girls and they're nice and all, but I lose a lot of respect for guys who go to watch them dance.

Bingo. The link doesn't even go to an actual domain, just an IP, and it was sent from dear.org. Glad I didn't fill anything out. Thanks, I put you in the green!

davenotdead 01.12.2007 08:16 PM

no prob...all my time spent dealing with ebay has to be worth something...

Yeah those types of guys really scare me! There's a guy at my work that brags about how he goes, but it really just shows how he's a low-life that can't get a relationship. He's disgusting, he checks out 40 year olds passing by and says "regarde a la feemmmeeee. Ya like dat?"

noumenal 01.12.2007 08:21 PM

Speaking of pole dancing, there is a music theory joke that hinges on the idea of "hexatonic pole dancing"--a "hexatonic pole" is a music theory term. Check it out:

http://www.math.ku.edu/~mitchell/mm/mathmusic.html

Just search for the word "pole."

My Mom's a victim of identity theft. Some people really suck

Hahah ewww. I was talking to this guy down the road from me about how he goes and he was telling me how 'hot' lap dances are. I wanted to throw up on him.

LittlePuppetBoy 01.12.2007 08:59 PM

My mom had her credit cards stolen a few times. Luckily they didn't use it up.

That would be gross! You'd probably contract chlamydia just from being near a stripper. There's a guy at my school who frequently talks about how he meets people from Ottawa on those "local sex sites" and screws them and then never talks to them again. I felt like hitting him for multiple reasons

edit, sorry, i didnt even read the thread before i posted. it was a reflex response before, i dont know... good to see nobody got suckered into this because actually my former landlord did a couple of years ago. ha!

jon boy 01.13.2007 11:17 AM

dont fall for it its bullshit! they just want your account details. paypal never send out e-mails of this type, trust me.

i have had my identity stolen before by some vagabounds and they stole £300 out of my account. i told the bank and the woman i told didnt believe me until as i was sat with her in the bank and some transactions went out so clearly it couldnt have been me. it was an awful feeling though.

where i lived in leeds you could never throw any bank details or receipts away becuse people would come around at night and look through your bins for anything they could use. that happened to a few people i knew. they lost thousands.

pokkeherrie 01.13.2007 08:45 PM

Sometimes paypal does send you an email, but it they do they always address you personally ("Dear Firstname Lastname") and never "Dear paypal customer" or anything like that.

Also, The best way to avoid phishing is to never click on links in paypal-emails, but always type the address of the paypal website in the URL bar instead and log in from there.

jon boy 01.14.2007 07:37 AM

the paypal website has a warning explaining that they never send out e-mails and that there are a lot of scams involving fake emials where they gain your account details.

PAULYBEE2656 01.14.2007 07:42 AM

paypal do not email folk. this was indeed a spam or a phish trying obtain al yr details. they are clever fuckers. im getting these emails daily and from the bank of ireland whom i am a customer. i knew it was phishing because the bank of ireland dont even have my email address......

tread carefully when responding to emails!!
