best thurston moore improv albums?

hey there,
I'm looking to listen to more of T's improv stuff,
What would a top ten of sorts look like?

My favs so far are

piece for jetsun dolma
in store

the diskaholics anonymous trio thing

I also got a sweet spot for that old 'klangfarbenmelodie' album. Which, regrettably, I traded for 'please leave me' back in the day (argggg).

Btw, I saw a T improvisation live a couple of years ago in Amsterdam, ferocious would be the describing term. His songs are getting more and more bland and tasteless, lol, but his improvisation skills are constantly improving. He seems to be really in control of the instrument.

i don't have a top a ten but i like this album : Zorn it's Zorn...and Thurston with his noisy progressions made an album with good moments.

Moore/Connors: the Only way to go is straight through
is my favourite (as great as SY-albums, reminds me a lot Sonic Death). It´s RSD-release of 2013 and seems still be available here:

Oh man, that's gotta hurt. I got 'Please Leave Me' by mail order, I thought I'd been ripped off because the case is so basic and and the CD is a bunch of crap, but no, that's what it is supposed to be. Klangfarbenmelodie is great though.

I don't have a favourite, but of ther ones I've heard I like Klangfarbenmelodie, Harricane Floyd, Piece for Jetsun Dolma and Live at Tonic. Probably.
Also Barefoot in The Head and Pillow Wand are good too.

Jutsun Dolma is probably my second fav.

well it did hurt, but it was in the 90s. Not much internet around, so there were no reviews etc. I remember Klangfarbenmelodie had a really nice cd case. Well I got it on mp3@320 now, I think I'm entitled.

Christian Marclay/Thurston Moore/Lee Ranaldo
Fuck Shit Up

http://www.sonicyouth.com/mustang/lp/misc13.html

http://exclaim.ca/music/article/chri...aldo-fuck_shit

May 24, 1999: Sonic Youth members perform at the Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville for the third time in four years. This time around, guitarists Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo flank experimental turntablist Christian Marclay. An audience member shouts, "F*ck sh*t up" just before they start playing -- an album title delivered for free. And then they dived, playing a 63-minute set, followed by a nine-minute encore, bringing the festival to an end. Marclay weaves a backdrop of sounds -- strange snippets of music, needle-skipping, and surface noise -- while Moore and Ranaldo produce huge waves of feedback and walls of electric guitar sounds. The encore finds Marclay delivering the performance of the night, blending noise rock with Dixie and Elvis Presley while Ranaldo accompanies him on what must be one of the last krackleboxes still around: the highlight of the album. The album was mixed down from two recordings of the show, one made in the venue itself, the other from Radio-Canada.

moore/surgal - not me/lydia's moth is a favorite, as well as several already mentioned. "lydia's moth" is gorgeous

piece for jetsun dolma, hurricane floyd, barefoot in the head, and in-store.. to make five.

noisereductions 10.12.2015 05:27 PM

Yeah lydias moth is nice.

Always like live at east hampton w nels n zeenz too.

Verstande 10.12.2015 09:41 PM

does CLM count?

Verstande 10.15.2015 09:40 AM

Also do you guys have any Thurston recommendations taking into account that my favorite song in Chelsea Light Moving is Alighted

Toilet & Bowels 10.15.2015 01:51 PM

CLM doesn't count, this is all about the improvised guitar noise CDs Thurston Moore has been putting out since the early 90s. Some solo some with other musicians. Look up some of the CDs people are talking about in this thread and see if they are for you!

And then look up Lee's improv because it's just as good, and maybe better. Maybe.

noisereductions 10.15.2015 03:13 PM

Lee's stuff w/ William Hooker is great.
