The Carpenters Did Not Suck.

(And she was also a great drummer to boot.)

Shall I present the evidence then?

Finally you gave up starting threads about shit bands.

pbradley 03.04.2010 12:28 AM

Who's saying that they did? Perhaps you should hangout less with teenagers?

jon boy 03.04.2010 12:36 AM

i liked them. when i first listened though i hated them intensely but that was because i was trapped in a car with a bunch of Christians on a rainy day in yorkshire. i have learnt to like them since then.

pbradley 03.04.2010 12:48 AM

Yes, the Carpenters are so much better after a thorough de-christianing.

Also, Richard Carpenter hates Sonic Youth's cover.

Is it already time for the next 'worship a mediocre pop band' thread. Doesn't time fly.

Keeping It Simple 03.04.2010 08:10 AM

Barry Manilow didn't suck either.

Snide comment from confused old man Pookie - check

Ah, sweet consistency.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 03.04.2010 02:35 PM

Neither did Burt Bacharach.

After the tribute album was released, Richard Carpenter was quoted in
Entertainment Weekly saying he liked SY's cover and compared it to a
White Album track. A decade later he goes on NPR and says he doesn't
like it.

It's not a crime to change your mind.

floatingslowly 03.04.2010 04:14 PM

and transmit thought energy far above the norm

That wasn't my implication. I just wonder if he never liked it at all but just
had positive words for the sake of promoting the album. Also not a crime.

I'm the same as Richard. One minute I'm liking an album / movie / videogame, then the next minute I'm hating it. That's human nature for you.

SeaBasket 03.04.2010 04:47 PM

Yes this is a gr8 band. U know it 2 b true becuz of the anorezicz. Proves it.

As a middle clasz post punk frum neu york i amz fasciznated with dead anorexic popstars and the noshun that they died 4 "it" makes my own sellin out seem moar worfwhile, as if wut i am doing actually materrs.
