How many more albums before they quit?

i say 2 more. reckon they'll make their final album when they're around 61/62 years old.

_slavo_ 10.09.2009 06:56 AM

who, Placebo?

SYRFox 10.09.2009 06:58 AM

The Mars Volta will quit in two albums, then reunite when they'll be 70 and have Parkison's disease so they'll be able to play hyperspeed solos

hopefully not. why do you think so? because touring in such a age would be tiring, or because they will loose interest in SY musically, or Sonic Youth can't be Youth after 60? they might go longer as SY then that. age wouldn't be main factor to stop SY for them. and if they will stop playing around that age, I guess think it'll be time for their solo stuff and it will be plenty of it.

SonicBebs 10.09.2009 07:59 AM

i think that they will continue until one of them dies.
they have a strong enough fanbase (us lot) for there to be interest in them, they have enough shabadoo shabadee for there to always be a label interested or for them to self release.
And although i've never met them i'm sure they will always be making music (that doesn't just stop after this amount of time) so i'm sure it'll be released somewhere

If guys like Neil Young and Cohen can keep it together after 65+, I'm sure da Yoof have another 10-15 years in them.

Rob Instigator 10.09.2009 08:35 AM

Man I dread the day.

Trasher02 10.09.2009 08:39 AM

SY will be around forever!... right?

They will only quit once they think they are not contributing something good. So, never.

notyourfiend 10.09.2009 10:47 AM

they know that they are a gold combination. they are totally gonnna keep rocking until the very end. worst comes to worst, the add another guitarist/bassist to play on tour when another one of them gets tendonitis...

Kannibal 10.09.2009 11:27 AM

2 seems fine.

hopefully no time soon, they are my favourite band and Battle for the Sun is their best album since Black Market Music!

automatic bzooty 10.09.2009 02:28 PM

as many as they feel like making?

i'm in the "they'll go until somebody dies, and i don't wanna think about it" boat.

jerf 10.09.2009 04:09 PM

Hopefully never. Not to sound selfish or tell them not to retire, but I can't picture them just stopping. I think they would be too bored.

they can be like pink floyd were once they became totally lame and each member have a shadow musician playing their parts with them at gigs!

dazedcola 10.09.2009 04:39 PM

The only way I envision the youth stopping is if Thurston or Lee suddenly drop dead in the middle of a concert after playing a blistering version of "brave men Run", dying in true punk rock fashion.

I think it's different for band - but i hope they continue doing what they're doing... They're the only band I've loved who haven't really massivily disapointed me so far. in terms of musical releases and what are still active. but you know, whatever. if they keep making them i'll probably keep buying them.
