well its a carpentrs song so the carpenters play it as it was supposed to be played but the youths version is excellent so as an answer id say.........................................

altho the 'original' version starts out very good, the choruses are fucking cheesy and annoying and overproduced with the very annoying background vocals and all that..
so my vote goes for the sy version.

each instance of the chorus after the first in the carpenters song is diminished by richard carpenters patented "smother a song with syrup" production style. this sometimes served the tracks well, other times not. this gives SY's version the edge.

i picked the carpenters. i like the chorus better because it's so cheesy it's good.
