A little brief don't you think? I guess they wanted to keep it accessible... but I was expecting the article to focus on any of the many audio recordings throughout the years. RIP Utkonos

It's nice to see them writing about the bootlegs but I guess it could have been a more extensive list. I think most of their articles in The Pitch section are relatively short though.

nice, but what a weird article.

I know it's "cool" around these parts to bash 'Kool Thing'. I never have. I never will. The Hangin' With MTV footage of 'Kool Thing' is flat-out amazing. Thurston's onstage "showboating" is a thing of beauty. It's rock-n-roll coming off the tracks and I love it. When he takes down Kim at the end it's sweet, fun...and then sad when viewed in the context of how it all ended. The footage of the 1987 Atlanta show is pretty rad too. I've lived in Atlanta for 20+ years, but not long enough to have been there. So jealous.

Not criticizing the Sonic Youth songs at all. I guess i just expected deeper cuts... That Atlanta show is awesome, as are all of his choices. But those are like the first results of a youtube search.

well, it's just journalism. by that standard it's not bad at all though.

I just would have liked to have seen more of it pointing to specific tracks from actual bootleg albums. I mean some of these are from those. But I'd have liked if it was like "here's a great song from Sonic Sunday, and from Easter, one from The Social Power Performance," etc.

Hit the nail on the head for me. But I understand that these tracks might be hard to find after Utkonos shut down.

here's a useless suggestion-- (well, not useless if it gets made)

some you guys could compile that list and ask stu to make it a sticky on that forum

that way the next journo can just quote you
