crazy fires engulfing the north of israel, 40 dead.
 

the biggest fire in israel's history is raging in the north. 40 prison guards were killed when their evacuation bus got stuck in the fires. the country has run out of fire extinguishing fluids. the biggest concern is that it will reach the gas distilleries in haifa which will kill everything in a 40 KM radius (my GF lives 25 km from there)

wow, this is a disaster - there is a lot of extreme climate going on now, anyone in Seattle or UK know this. I always think of that area as very dry, I'm surprised there are not more fires.

We usually have quite a few wild fires in Florida during the summertime. I don't think they are of that magnitude of destruction though.

this has been an extremely dry winter. we are not supposed to have rain again till the 10th of december.
there has also been a lot of budget cuts from the fire department apparently.

In Florida they purposley burn off the underbrush in our forests so they will not cause huge fires in the dry months. It is very effective in my area.

without those florida would burn to the ground. There is so much lightening here it is common for fires to break out and burn for miles closing off the interstates and shit. They keep it in check pretty well. My prayers go out to you and yours:)
