best uses of songs in skate videos...

I really love skateboarding. I haven't stepped on a board since I royally fucked my shoulder years ago, but I still keep up with the culture and watch the videos and am continuously amazed at how fucking good the pros are these days.

Music is obviously a big part of skateboarding, and I was wondering if anyone else on here has examples of songs going along great with skating. Keep in mind it doesn't have to be your favorite songs, just songs that went perfect with the skating.

Here are some of mine:

Mark Gonzales in Blind's "Video Days". Song is Coltrane with the Red Garland Trio "Traneing In".

Guy Mariano in Girl's "Mouse". Song is Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man".

Jason Dill in Alien Workshop's "Photosynthesis". Song is Radiohead's "Polyethylene parts 1 and 2".

Anthony Van Engelen also in "Photosynthesis". Song was "Search and Destroy" followed by Thurston's "Root (25 guitar pieces remix)".

Anthony Van Engelen in Alien Workshop's "Time Code". Song was the Adolescents' "King of the Black Hole".

Heath Kirchart in Transworld's "Sight Unseen". Song is Moody Blues' "Knights in White Satin".

First section in Anti-Hero's "Cash Money Vagrant". Song is Fang's "The Money Will Roll Right in".

Andrew Reynolds in Baker's "Baker 3". Song is Roxy Music's "The Bob".

Vincent Alvarez in Girl and Chocolate's "Pretty Sweet". Songs are Suicidal Tendencies' "Suicide's an Alternative", NWA "Straight Outta Compton", and the Trujillo Trio's "Trunk Boys".

Stefan Janoski in Habitat's "Mosaic". Songs are The Masters Apprentices "The War or Hands of Time" and The Greenhornes "Don't Come Running to Me".

Grant Taylor in Nike SB's "Debacle". Bad Brains' "Universal Peace".

Kevin Long in Emerica's "Stay Gold" (best soundtrack any video ever). Captain Beefheart "Electricity".

Leo Romero in "Stay Gold". Mott the Hoople "thunderbuck Ram".

Heath Kirchart bonus part in "Stay Gold". Joy Division "Atmosphere".

Andrew Reynolds in Emerica's "This is Skateboarding". Song is Jimi Hendrix's "Burning of the Midnight Lamp."

Lee Yankou in Think's "Business as Usual". Ty Segall's "My Head Explodes" and Sonic Youth's "Scooter plus Jinx".

Brandon Biebel's in Girl's "Yeah Right". Ghostface Killah's "Apollo Kids".

Jamie Thomas in Toy Machine's "Welcome to Hell". Iron Maiden "Hallowed be Thy Name".

Mike Carroll in Transworld'a "Modus Operandi". Kurupt "Trylogy".

Mike Carroll in Lakai's "Fully Flared". Judas Priest "Riding on the Wind" and Three 6 Mafia "Triple 6 Clubhouse".

Obviously I had to pick parts of my favorite skateboarders as well. Sorry how long this post is and I understand if no one responds. : )

Fuck Yes bruddha, same here. Ed Templeton led me to SY, which in turn led me to art, film, literature, photography, & the best music ever. & Ed is not a bad artist himself. Which I later came to find out for myself.

Neckface is Baker and Deathwish's art director. Music, art, skating, hipness, they all kind blend together now.

i haven't watched it in years, but i think it's in "Thrill Of It All" someone does a 50/50 down this huge ass rail, in a slowed down a bit speed. the song is Supertzr by Black Sabbath.

i got some old 411 videos still
one of my favorites is this Alien Workshop "Industry" section
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcqWUFa0jaU
i was totally blown away when that first song was finally released Dino Jr's bonus ep that came with Farm, some 15+ years later

i've always dug how the music fits so well in skatevideos. i haven't been on a skateboard since the mid 90's. kinda gave up on it. but i sure do dig watching the videos.

another neat one i've seen is this one about some exploding green balls that some mad scientist made that'll blow up the world if one is dropped. pretty sure i still got that one as well. haven't really watched them in many years. but i've never been bored with music selection in a skate video. even if it'd end up being something like Frank Sinatra. this to me was the only way back before the internet when this was one way to discover new bands. just go pick up any skate video. it'd be worth it.

i've never been disappointed with any Alien Workshop video
i like how they edit the video to the music
or is that the other way around?

Dinosaur Jr - Grab it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5aAb...lSNw& index=2

Cocteau Twins - Iceblink luck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtCa7...FdlSNw&index=3

Cocteau Twins and skateboarding turned out to be a fucking excellent combination in my opinion. Then again, most music sounds better to skateboarding clips.

the Black Sabbath song is used as the intro to Zero "the Thrill of it All"

Alien Workshop and Dino Jr have more or less an unofficial partnership. Their are Workshop Dino Jr. decks and tee shirts. And yeah Workshop and Habitat have fantastic art direction.

Check out this recent video of young ripper Austyn Gillete for Habitat:

The perfect music accompaniment to creosoting the garden fence is definitely Johann Sebastian Bachs Brandenburg Concertos. It's even better when you have a philharmonic orchestra performing the Concertos live in your garden.

I don't like this song but I'll be damned if it doesn't make Andrew Reynolds seem like some kind of mythical hero:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RTQJmvXtbI

STay Gold was absolutely one of the best videos ever made. Amazing skating, great tunes and and all around psychedelic vibe. Jerry Hsu, who has seemed to lose interest in skating over the years, even had a great part just by putting a great song to his horrific slams. WHen you see that guy fall, its no surprise he doesn't want to skate anymore. His part in "Bag of Suck" is one of the all time greats. He is as death defying as he is stylish, and that's kind of what all those dudes are about. Reynolds front side flipping off buildings and making it look graceful and dare I say it, artistic?
