Songs you can relate to

Dont u just love it when you hear a song, an you look at the lyrics and you can totally recognise what its about. It makes you feel really special lol, in a way. For me, i can relate to the song Repulsion by dinosaur jr. I interpret it as being unconfident, shy and paranoid, not knowing who you are and how to be. Thats what i think anyway, and i know ive felt like that before. Anybody kno what im on about?

I feel your eyes upon me
How should I act today
To feel so unsure always
Give up or now keep on this way

The silence taps my elbow
It's good, least that's what she said

I could run but I stand and greet it
Boredom won't starve as long as I feed it
The world drips down like gravy
The thoughts of love so hazy
Everyone's ideal of fun

Repulsion

Try to wake up, try to break it open
It's not quite the right feeling
I'll just keep on hoping

The girls, they smile and say hello
The darkness drags me back home
It's hard to face it
Still waiting, still alone

The world drips down like gravy
The thoughts of love so hazy
Everyone's ideal of fun
Repulsion

Try to wake up, try to break it open
It's not quite the right feeling
I'll just keep on hoping

The world drips down like gravy
The thoughts of love so hazy
Everyone's ideal of fun
Repulsion

total peace - sebadoh
All I need is one true friend
I want total peace of mind
To leave the hurting world behind
I’m not scared; I swear I’m free
It may collapse the fear
That burns to bring the worst from me
Much too smart to sound uptight
Not to cheat what I deserve
Nothing hidden and nothing wasted
So far from dead, frustrated
Too smart to ask for more
This is all I’ve waited for
Nothing hidden and nothing wasted
Nothing past the love I’ve tasted
It’s wrong but right; magic change
I finally hurt to live on up to this name
Not right; it never changes
When finally hurt to live on up to this thing

unmade bed, sy
LOOK WHO’S COME BACK HOME AGAIN
LOSER LOOKING FOR HIS LUCKY BREAK
THIS TIME HE SAYS HE JUST NEEDS A FRIEND
AIN’T ON THE RUN HE AIN’T ON THE TAKE

CAN YOU UNLOCK THE DOOR BABE
WILL YOU JUST UNDO THE CHAIN
WILL YOU TAKE YR TIME BEFORE YOU
MIX UP LOVE, HIS LOVE AND PAIN
LONELINESS LAYS DOWN HIS HEAD
WANTS TO GET YOU HIGH, BETTER TAKE IT NOW
A MAN LIKE THAT’S LIKE AN UNMADE BED
STAINED EYES SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER WAY OUT

DOES IT MATTER IF YOU EVEN WANT THIS
MAYBE YOU JUST DON’T CARE
ALL I KNOW IT TAKES JUST ONE KISS, BABE
FOR YOU - HE’S NEVER THERE
HEY I KNOW IT’S KINDA HARD
AND MAYBE THIS TIME IT WILL NEVER END
HIT AND RUN LOVER BACK IN YR HEART
ANSWERED PRAYERS YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE SENT

CUZ NOW THAT YR IN HIS ARMS BABE
YOU KNOW YR JUST IN HIS WAY
SUCKERED BY HIS FATAL CHARM, OH GIRL
IT’S TIME WE GETAWAY

TheDom 04.16.2006 04:41 PM

Some parts in Green Mind by Dinosau Jr.

schizophrenicroom 04.16.2006 04:41 PM

This is pretty cliche teenage angst, but Web In Front by Archers Of Loaf:

"all i ever wanted was to be your spine"

I third Psychic Hearts, but my parents are actually pretty cool.

RIPfrey05 04.16.2006 04:49 PM

We’re caught in a landslide. -- The minutes come tumbling down,
and into an hour’s time, within which a day’s worth of work
must be planned out and pan out for every week to be worth
the weekends of downtime and months of ennui that kills
and years of resentment of everyone’s contentment, and you
can’t justify it, still.

I tell you my reasons, you don’t tell me your inside jokes
until I’ve gone bitter on every word that you’ve spoken,
and all of your kind words, amounting to nought but a token
in all their inaction, will tumble away with the days
and nights of together, as we’re really not ’together’ at all,
but ’parallel.’

Now i’m walking on downtown, in a town that is not my home,
and shopping for breakfast, to be eaten all alone
and dreaming of houses, none of them that I own --
but that’s not my provence -- that’s not for what I am known.
So I gather around me all the little pieces of a song,
and fit them where they belong.

So go to your downtown, and bring what you’ve brought back home,
and you never should worry --
your hours will now be as long as the days that you hurried,
and months when it all seemed wrong, in all of the action,
will tumble away with the years, and parallel evenings,
and parallel tracks of our tears, and nights of together are where?
So I gather around me all the little pieces of a song,
and fit them where they belong.

Sad songs.

Xiu Xiu - Apistat Commander
Sufjan Stevens - Ypsilanti

because of some weird archetype or synchronicity event, i can relate to dashboard confessional's screaming infidelities so much it's creepy.

i mean, i would do good asking the dude if he dated the same girl i did

dietzer123 04.17.2006 12:19 AM

doctor worm by they might be giants. i often feel myself feeling like a worm who plays drums in a rock 'n roll band

dietzer123 04.17.2006 12:20 AM

noumenal 04.17.2006 12:41 AM

The artist whose songs I relate to most is, without question, Blowfly.

marleypumpkin 04.17.2006 12:44 AM

Any song about heartbreak. I've lived it too many times.

PunkerViolence 04.17.2006 04:57 AM
