which Sonic Youth record will be their next reissue?

Any thoughts?
Any official news?

- Sister?

- Washing Maching?

SYRFox 08.25.2008 04:59 AM

I don't think they will do another Deluxe reissue now they're no longer on Geffen. I would love a Confusion is Sex or Bad Moon Rising deluxe edition though - there must be plenty of unreleased tracks ala Kat N Hat or Blooze Blur from that era.
I think if there ever was another deluxe it would be Sister or Washing Machine though.

But maybe now they're on Domino they'll reissue out of print material, like Made in USA and Sonic Death? We can only hope

GrungeMonkey 08.25.2008 05:00 AM

I'd love made in USA to be reissued, ive only heard one track, and i thought it was brilliant.
Sonic Death would also be cool.

acousticrock87 08.25.2008 05:02 AM

I think they'll probably do more. Steve seemed to be very into the selection process for the Deluxe things.

Unless, of course, they go the Destroyed Room route, which would be way better. Normal-priced B-Side compilations from any era. Fuck yeah.

And yes, a Sonic Death CD release would be nice. I own the tape and a burned CD of it, but I fucking hate tapes and burned CDs.

as syrfox said, no geffen. i would like to see ost reissues/deluxe editions: made in usa + demonlover + kali yug express stuff.

Well the fact is that that Deluxe thing is a Universal collection, via Geffen. If you check albums with that very same packaging, they're all licensed to Universal. Other labels have their own deluxe things (like Legacy edition, or whatever), but the "Deluxe Edition" is Universal's. Well, maybe they'll do Deluxe reissues in a new form, like the Pavement ones, but I doubt so. We'll see eventually :)

tasteinmen 08.25.2008 07:49 AM

i hope there are more deluxe editions to come

They're not on Domino so far. They're just releasing their next album on Domino.
I don't think it actually means they signed with Domino.

Danny Himself 08.25.2008 08:40 AM

Domino handle the Pavement deluxe editions in Europe. So you never know. Thats if they sign / have signed with Domino..

pantophobia 08.25.2008 09:06 AM

well Domino could end up being their euro distributor and not their main label

HECKLER SPRAY 08.25.2008 09:10 AM

They should sign with Matador.

sarramkrop 08.25.2008 09:11 AM

I'll ask a friend who works for Domino.

Washing Machine should be the next one.

HECKLER SPRAY 08.25.2008 09:14 AM

Are you serious porky ? Do you really have a friend who works at Domino ?

sarramkrop 08.25.2008 09:15 AM

Yeah. I know someone else who used to work for them too.

HECKLER SPRAY 08.25.2008 09:21 AM

Great. Sometimes it's good to have friends in high-places.

10th Anniversary reissue of NYC Ghosts & Flowers that comes with a long-form music video (y'know, like for the entire album). You would die if you tried to watch it all at once.

No, Goofin' is indeed SY own imprint.
But I think a SY Soundtracks boxset has already been discussed as being released on SYR sometime in the future

mil_pl 08.26.2008 06:30 AM

hope so
