This may just be the greatest thing to happen to the Raiders since they won the AFC Conference game in 2002/03, especially since its against the Raiders arch-villain rival the Shitsburg Steelers. I told motherfuckers two years ago, FUCK CARSON PALMER, and I also ALWAYS felt that Pryor got straight SHITTED on, and now I feel vindicated beyond belief, about as much as when the Ravens redeemed their 2012 loss to the Patriots to go the Superbowl the next season, I mean, I just KNEW Ravens were a Superbowl team, I was just off by a season, and I also just KNEW that Pryor could be the guy, and he is definitely stepping up in that direction ;)

Kubiak dropped. The Colts took advantage. Texans season is officially OVER. at least we have a QB now.

So Miami isn't a big sports city. Then why is Lord David Prince of Beckham starting a football team there?

Maybe Queen Victoria just likes the idea of having a palace near Beyonce, Lebron and Will Smith

to me it seems evident

1) his wife probably looks amazing in a bikini. reason enough to move to miami.

2) miami is the economic hub of latin america. all of us spickaroonies have connections to it. not just the fucking baseball-playing fascist cubans. so there is a huge audience. like in california, but with more flair and talent (i.e., more south america, less mexico).

3) there are LOTS of queens. in drag.

Rob Instigator 11.05.2013 08:48 AM

Miami has better cocaine for all the players.

1 and 3 make sense but the point of the article was that, whichever way you cut it, even with all its ties to latin America, Miami just doesn't have a big sports following. If Beckham was actually gonna play it might attract the trendies and the fashionistas but if he's just behind the scenes, he'll probably sell out gala dinners, etc, easier than he will actual games. Maybe he should sign Victoria. That'd keep the celebs happy, even if she's only in the position of goal post.

i didn't read the article, but my guess is that it's the wrong sports that don't get the following.

53% of miami residents are foreign born

you go to one of those houses on a weekend, they are plugged to some foreign cable link watching the real deal.

btw, the MLS is still the wrong sport. playoffs? drafts? designated players? weird seasons? east/west "conferences"? no promotion or relegation? negro please…!

Maybe Suarez should be Beckham's first signing. Now that really would be interesting.

But yeah, the gist of the article is that Miami's really flippant when it comes to any sport. Heat games have only come close to selling out since they attracted big names and started winning stuff. The Dolphins do ok but nothing to write home about. Jai Alai seems to be popular though.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 11.05.2013 01:17 PM

Miami isn't a sports city?

Their NFL team has won back-to-back Superbowls (albeit in the 1970s) and has had several appearances since then (albeit losses). In the mid-1990s the Marlins not only won the World Series, but were practically America's team in popularity and won again in 2003 against the dreaded Yankees.

And even though the Miami Heat weren't the best team in the 1990s, they were one of the more popular and respected "expansion teams" and after the surprise 2006 Championship, have become the best team in the NBA for the past 3 years. While Miami isn't the kind of blue-collar sports town that is embodied by cities like Shitsburg or Boston, it is hardly "not a sports town."
