I find this "geek" bullshit offensive. lazy writing. lazier thinker. lots of code words strung together.

I rarely post on these things, but that was crap. Writer might want to at least spell a band member's name correctly. Reads as if the writer did a google search and then had an article thirty minutes later.

Goo is a bad place to start because half of that record is crap

Yeah, that's it. Because I think NYCG&F is a steaming coil I shouldn't be listening to SY. Face it, NYCG&F is - by far - the worst of their "proper" albums.

NYCG&F is a good sidetrip in SY's life and catalog, but it is in no way definitive of what SY sound like, or how they rock or the rest of their catalog sounds like.

I would start with Sister real loud, and then DDN REAL FUCKING LOUD

Wait, they made that up right? Funny thing. Anytime I mention sonic youth to my rastafari bredren and sistren, such as when by coincidence, and I say, "something something Sonic Youth," they always reply and nod and say, "Yeah man, I love them, saw them back in such and such.."

The thing is, THEY ARE ALWAYS THINKING I'M TALKING ABOUT BIG YOUTH;)
