I hated Loaded at first. I brought it to work recently and listened to it for about 4 hours straight, and I actually like it now.

I have like 4 Fushitsusha CDs downloaded that I haven't listened to yet. I should probably listen to those.

finding nobody 08.08.2006 06:28 PM

yeah, VU went away from the Avant Garde and more towards strait up rock for Loaded.. i like the album though. good pop tunes

acousticrock87 08.08.2006 07:27 PM

Yeah, cause Cale left. I like Lou Reed more than Cale, but Reed under the influence of Cale is a holy union.

actually, i take that back. i still like loaded if not just for Rock and Roll. the one i don't like too much is the s/t with pale blue eyes, candy says etc, although pale blue eyes is a beautiful song.

acousticrock87 - john cale is a goddamn genius. the first two albums will remain favorites of mine forever.

I never even got the s/t because of Loaded. After hearing how different they sounded without Cale I just never felt the need. Still feels like a hole in my collection, though. I want the VU unreleased thing more.

The Mekons - Rock and Roll

Every time I plunk this down on the platter, I'm amazed. I can't believe this album didn't get more acclaim back in its day. It's like the Clash meet some backwater Cajun/country band.

The s/t is way better than Loaded. Loaded has three or four good songs--the first three or four, and they're only "good" not "great."

But that's just one fan's opinion.

Laid off; not enough biz to keep us both employed. My employer had to cut his own salary besides laying me off, actually.
I'm not minding having the summer free though; not at all.
As for what I'm listening to:
Big Black - Lungs

Cantankerous 08.09.2006 02:12 PM

don't buy the VU s/t, it's not worth it.

gmku 08.09.2006 02:15 PM

Pay no attention to the Keefer lookalike behind the curtain. It is certainly worth it, if you're a VU fan.

Cantankerous 08.09.2006 02:15 PM

no it isn't.

gmku 08.09.2006 02:17 PM

Of course. It was good to hear so much new stuff, and I liked most of it.

I'm online now (obviously), so I'm streaming some Fruchte des Zorns.
