So, someone with chops and experience is trying to fund the production of a definitive story and visual document of SWANS.

So far, he's raised less than half of the necessary amount, and he has less than a month before the deadline. If you love SWANS, this seems like a good way to contribute to the preservation of their memory (not that they're dead, or gone, but ... well, nobody really knows what the future holds), and to possibly sound the alarm for some folks who may not have the pleasure of knowing this band.

The film will be a definitive document — the "complete" story of SWANS (though... what happens when if and when story continues, I don't know). This has never been done before, and the need for such a document, not just for diehards but for the world at large. A lot of people still don't know about SWANS, even after their successful revival.

Looking at the numbers since Blood Promise shared this, I can't help but think we made a difference.

I'll bet Pitchfork watches this board for tips on how to be cool. That's why they posted about it after BP did.

Best I can tell, the majority of the work and expense has already occurred. I know NOTHING about producing a DVD, but I'm assuming the biggest cost was having Marco Porsia travel with the band. It will take a good deal of time compiling all the footage and no doubt Marco wants to be compensated for his time, but the cost had already been accrued before the kickstarter campaign began. With the goal met, it's a win-win for everyone involved!


Don't forget Pink Floyd's, 'Ummagumma'......but only the ones with the cover of the 'Gigi' soundtrack on the front. Not only are they 5:1 surround sound, but CD two has a secret backwards masking album hidden under the CD lable. There are five hidden albums in total:

Yes, well, that's clear, right? I mean in the video he shows parts of the documentary. And he states that the money is for post-production, graphics, blah blah. But I have no doubt that the film has been made. But the finished product? I don't know. And there obviously hasn't been any real marketing for this. I find myself wondering if it will even be done by the projected date, and I think it probably won't unless they really haul ass.

But yes, it's a win-win for everyone involved.
