What music to play in a newly bought car?

Hey,

bought me a car last week and I can pick it up on thursday. It's a second hand Citroen Xsara, which looks something like this:

It's the same colour too, if this is siver. (edit: mine has 5 doors though, just see that the one in the pic has 3)
So what should I play for music when I first drive in it? Yes it has a CD player, even though it originally had a cassette player. It's a 1999 built, only ran 44.000km :)
If you want to know what music I'm into click the last.fm playlist to see my favourite artists. You will have to replace Bill Frisell with Crosby, Stills & Nash though.

and I hate the Crash Test Dummies!!

I'm planning on buying some CDs tomorrow, the new Dinosaur Jr if I like it, and the new Wir Sind Helden if my local store sells it. But any recommendations are welcome.

If you don't know the Helden yet, click here: http://fm4.orf.at/connected/218365/main
Click on the picture to start the video stream. And fast forward on the two covers in English, they shouldn't have done that.

Blondie... preferably the Autoamerican album.

pacific coast highway

tesla69 05.29.2007 03:40 PM

Don't play music, watch a porno DVD WHILE DRIVING.

pbradley 05.29.2007 03:43 PM

I can only think of The Breeder's "Drivin' On 9."

atsonicpark 05.29.2007 03:44 PM

shellac - terraform is the best album to play in a newly-bought car.

Green_mind 05.29.2007 05:02 PM

You've got the right idea already, the new dinosaur jr album for your new car, drive safe.

I posted the lyrics to Rapture(appears on Autoamerican) in one of the Do You Believe in Rapture? threads when RR came out.

allow me to get loose with the grammar

Man, you would not believe the shit it stirred up. All I did was post some lyrics, that's it, but Toilet & Bowels then posted that all my opinions were shit. Just because I had posted some Blondie lyrics "rapture" in a thread called "do you believe in rapture?"

So, he pounced, and forced me either defend Blondie or make fun of them.
I defended them. They are not one my absolute favorites, but damn.
It was just ridiculous how I had to spend thirty minutes writing reply after reply just because some lame jokerhead wanted to antagonize me.

So, that's my "blondie on the board" story. Since then, Thurston has mentioned Blondie in several interviews because Coco digs 'em, and so now the board is "safe" for Blondie, haha, I suppose.

P.S. People SUCK

Road Runner by the Modern Lovers rules for new car love.

everything's a big drama with you isn't it?

val-holla-ing 05.29.2007 09:12 PM

exchange "fucking travesty" with "big drama" and call him "Donnie." pretty please.

Everyneurotic 05.29.2007 09:26 PM

blonde suck.

atari limit your signature to less than three pages please! Ha, I've just blocked your images with Firefox's Adblock Plus addon :D

thanks to all the rest of you. I might give blondie a try, most songs I know of them I like, but never listened to a full cd of them, except their greatest hits.
Listened to samples of Shellac last night, even though they sounded pretty good it's too aggressive to what I'm looking for. Might be something for when I'm driving in Germany, but max speed from home to work is mostly 100km/h

Breeders' Last Splash I've listened to so much that it doesn't thrill me anymore (which is a pity though)

pacific coast highway: good one :-)

SynthethicalY 05.30.2007 12:50 AM

The Beach Boys, but that would help if you lived on the West Coast.
