Favorite media for listening to music

What's everyones favorite?

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 03.27.2006 08:28 PM

cd's.
Good quality, portable, burnable. Whats not to love?

schizophrenicroom 03.27.2006 08:28 PM

I had to ultimately go with cassette.. there's something really warm about the sound after you've been rewinding and fastforwarding so much.

HaydenAsche 03.27.2006 08:30 PM

Casettes are the bomb but I also really enjoy records and cds. Fuck mp3 players.

RdTv 03.27.2006 08:31 PM

Maybe its not convenient and always accesible, but records(vinyl) are more fun to me. it's like buying the actual painting canvas and all, instead of taking a picture of it. Plus, they have a better feel to them, they are textured and if yr needle is in good shape, then the sound quality is better than cd. Although you need a top notch stereo to tell a lot of difference.....

RdTv 03.27.2006 08:34 PM

HaydenAsche, It didn't even occur to me include mp3 players, so right on man....
In their defense, they are EXTREMELY useful and you can listen to tons and tons of shit all in one day, while doing whatever it is you want to do, but they lack character.....

Savage Clone 03.27.2006 08:36 PM

My answer comes as a surprise to no one I'm sure.
Vinyl all the way.

HaydenAsche 03.27.2006 08:36 PM

Yeah. I wouldn't spend money on one because I'd feel obliged to spend money on the bands cds.

HaydenAsche 03.27.2006 08:36 PM

Also, I love vinyl but its kind of a hassle when I'm never at home.

i know what you mean man, today during my lunch break, I bought this great record by The Foreign Exchange, and when I was driving home from work later, I wanted nothing else but to listen to the bastard. I guess to me records discipline me not to buy into the "right now, as much and fast as I can get it" mentality

HaydenAsche 03.27.2006 08:42 PM

Yeah. I only buy a few records a month but I get at least 2 or more cds a week.

RdTv 03.27.2006 08:53 PM

yep, I used to do the same. Lately I've been thinking of only buying vinyl and then buy a mp3 player to rip all of my vinyl onto, then I won't have to mess with jewel cases and scratched cd's. who knows......

HaydenAsche 03.27.2006 08:59 PM

I keep all of my cds in 3 256 cases. Two for real cds and one for bootlegs and burned copies.

!@#$%! 03.27.2006 09:02 PM

i love vinyl and i want more

i have no problem with whatever other format however and will listen to what's available

when i have the time i'll record the vinyl into the computer & burn a cd for the car. i also make copies of cds to carry in the car, fuck if i'm going to toss aorund/scratch/melt my originals.

one thing i've never, ever bought, is an mp3 file. wtf is the point of that?

pantophobia 03.27.2006 09:16 PM

i voted cassette

it's the only thing i got in my car, and it seems i listen to more music when i am in the car, with the amount of SY, Devo, and B-52s cassettes

!@#$%! 03.27.2006 09:20 PM

cassettes are cool but they can melt in the sun like fried cheeses

also i hate it when the tape gets entangled & you need to cut off a chunk & glue back.

but i still like them. ipods on the other hand give me the willies. but i'm going to cave one day, i know.

totally

I hate all of the media. I can't stand their left-wing bias. I vote for talk-radio, which isn't the media because it's, like, opinions and stuff.

i said it once and i'll say it again. holding a vinyl record is like holding a piece of art.

cassettes sound rad and they remind me of the good ol' days but they also remind me that they are a bitch to maintain, and they crap out very easily.

cds are probably my choice because of the reasons rhys named

but honestly, i love all of them!!! there's something in each one that i love...sure they have their inconveniences but i love them. in fact, when i raise some cash, i'm going cassette hunting.
