1970s by far

You can argue for each of those; it's tough.

Better_Than_You 02.12.2009 01:37 PM

the 80s brought me some of my favorite bands.. but the mainstream music killed any chance of them winning a poll.

in my opinion.

except for prince. he was pretty badass.

do not fancy.

This Is Not Here 02.12.2009 01:47 PM

I didn't realise music began in 1950.

I didn't realize music was around in 1950. I thought Michael Jackson invented music.

greedrex 02.12.2009 02:18 PM

for ME, 90's, but i think it arguably is the 60's in terms of musicology and the birth of so many styles and substyles. whatvs. Ask batreleaser, i dunno.

atsonicpark 02.12.2009 02:34 PM

Let's see.. Captain Beefheart was around 1964-1982. So, I'm going to say the 70's. Because that was the decade he spent the most years in.

People need to get more specific.

"music" has been around as long as humans had shit to hit for a beat and voices to hum with.

in my estimation, the best decade for music was whichever decade J.S. Bach was in top form. probably around the 1730's

pbradley 02.12.2009 03:06 PM

I'm gonna go and say that every decade has had a lot of music I like and a lot of music that I don't and even more that I know nothing about.

Picking out one over the others is arbitrary.

DeadDiscoDildo 02.12.2009 03:12 PM

^^true, but I will say the 60s, both the early 60s pop/rock n roll and the mid to late 60s psychedelic pop/motown/rock n roll shaped most of the future in my opinion. Also influenced many of the great artists of every decade since, in some way or another. If you want to get technical you could say the same about the 40s and 50s birthing rock n roll in general.

But the sounds of the 60s are more emulated in everything else.

Whatever.

I should have just said, yeah.

!@#$%! 02.12.2009 05:07 PM

let's see

40's-50's- bebop
60's- free jazz
70's- fusion
80's- pat metheny
90's- kenny g
00's- ??

i take the late 50's

GeneticKiss 02.12.2009 05:29 PM

Didn't we have this discussion before?

atsonicpark 02.12.2009 05:31 PM

yeah, but everyone on this board loves repeating themselves, and no one knows how to use the search function.

Toilet & Bowels 02.12.2009 06:50 PM

a better way of phrasing the question would be "Which decade produced the most music that appeals to your taste?"

Glice 02.12.2009 06:55 PM

I find the best way to phrase any question is "Is Toilet & Bowels a massive horse-fucking queerbag? YES OR DEATH."
