Happy Birthday, Pac-Man!

Pac-Man is 30 and has inspired the best Google doodle ever...a playable videogame.

There's sound, a tunnel, intermissions, and even a bonus Pac-Man after the first 10,000 points!

A second player can control Ms. Pac-Man at the same time!

Happy Birthday PacMan

Happy birthday to the videogame I spent more school dinner-money on than any other.

that's awesome! I didn't even notice the "insert coin" button.

I would like to see more classic videogame birthdays celebrated!

just a few days ago, I was reminiscing over first seeing the pong and space invaders game...

that said, pac man and ms pac man were among my top favorites released on the 2600. I can still remember plugging in ms. pac man and drooling over the MINDBLOWING graphics.

can any videogame released today bring the same amount of joy and awe or have we all (myself included) become too jaded?

The decline of the arcades has sort of killed a lot of the excitement around video games. There was something brilliant about the sounds you'd hear in an arcade when fifty different games were being played at the same time. Good times.

ive spent over 2 hours on it, today.
2player modus!

I used to scavenge for quarters so I could head to safeway supermarket and play Pac man! That shit ruled!

I too miss the arcade sounds. a few malls in Houston still have arcades and when I go in I reminisce. The sounds, the kids millimng about, screaming, the video game killins. such fun.

the sound of Pac Man eating a blue ghost is like the sound of age 8 for me.

yeha

I scored 17,990 points on the Google version of that game the other day.

If not for Pac-Man, we wouldn't have video games like we them today, and if not for video games...who knows what my childhood would've been like?

shabbray2.0 05.27.2010 03:59 PM

"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."
