Yeah, they were great, kind of mundane sabbath -esque "lets play the same song over and over again" -thing, but it really worked, two encores even, the band seemed to be into it. Shit like that should be stupid fucking loud, which it wasn't this time.

pokkeherrie 03.30.2010 07:11 PM

yeah, they're a very entertaining live band but their records aren't that interesting. they should be loud.

Phlegmscope 04.05.2010 12:11 PM

Jarboe and Nachtmystium tonight if it's not sold out.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.05.2010 03:20 PM

April 21: Michael Rose @ the DUB club Echo Park
May 13: Midnite @ the Key Club Hollywood
May 23: Groundation @ the Roxy Theater Hollywood

these are my favorite groups, it is going to be a miraculous season.

Well it was far from sold out. Actually there was about 30 people in a venue with a capacity of 530. One of the lowest attendance at that place I've ever seen.
And a disappointment it was too. As for jarboe, I was expecting some atmospheric doomy stuff, but mostly it was a bit daft metal. Good bits there too, but it wasn't what I was hoping for.
Nachtmystium then proceeded with rather generic black metal / thrash. Again, could have been worse, but it wasn't very interesting either.

Also there was some surprise act with a couple of jarboe's band blokes. Guitar and laptop mangling, kind of a poor mans jesu or some other industrial thing.

I saw Nachtmystium with the Psyke Project a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed Psyke, but Nachtmystium seemed very much like they wished it were 1983.

Sway how can you listen to a band with such a disrespectful name? It's an insult to all women of which I have a mother, two daughters, many ex girlfriends and an ex-wife.
