I wonder if she even knows?

floatingslowly 08.29.2007 02:02 PM

like my wife said that she was like on the Today show yesterday.

she like wanted everyone to know that like she and her friends can all like read maps and stuff, and that she like doesn't know anybody who can't.

of note: she got third place.

Danny Himself 08.29.2007 02:08 PM

Ha! That video was awesome... and kinda sad. "Many US Americans like don't have maps..."

total-trash 08.29.2007 10:55 PM

hahah i saw this a few days ago. it seemed as though she added "such as" into her sentences whenever they lacked wordiness. which was always.

Tickerwelly 08.30.2007 09:06 AM

It's like she was trained on what to say (ie., such as, children, Africa) but way got way too nervous and blew it.

nicfit 08.30.2007 09:22 AM

I think she was just playing pictionary with a guy in the audience and she tried to guess what he was drawing in between her speech. thus the randomness.

ha ha yes, poor thing.

it was mixed feelings for me.

on the one hand it was hilarious to watch her brain melt like that.

on the other hand she was really cute and i felt sorry for her.

but what the fuck could she possibly have been thinking? i'm waiting for the conspiracy thread denouncing experiments in mind control

Savage Clone 08.30.2007 10:18 AM

I like the video response piece that chastises "all you white-collar map-havers out there" who just can't relate. That was pretty good.

tesla69 08.30.2007 02:22 PM

It doesn't matter if she can talk or not, she's a hottie and will do just fine in life. What really concerns me is I think she has too much makeup on! Miss Teen should be natural at that age they don't need makeup and if they do they should be bounced just like sports figures using 'roids...yup Makeup is the performance enhancer of the beauty queen world and should be banned and treated as the depraved criminals they are.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 08.30.2007 02:40 PM

I disagree, she's not a hottie
I know a million girls much prettier (and smarter) than her

pbradley 08.30.2007 02:44 PM

She's not that cute and she thought she might be able to answer a question about American geographical ignorance by relating it to world poverty. I don't feel sorry for her.

Also I don't allow good-looks as an excuse for being a dumbass. It's a lazy and dependent way of living your life.

It's not an excuse, but it does explain why no one really expects much of good-looking people (other than that they should stay good-looking).

When I think of people that I know, the ones who are the funniest and smartest weren't exactly the cutest kids. In grade school certain people teased me about my appearance, so I just tried to do well in school and make good jokes in class so that I sort of had that stuff to back me up. I don't think Miss Teen SC ever had to do that, but I also don't think she should receive all of the blame. I mean, her parents were probably just glad that they had a good-looking kid, and didn't really feel the need to encourage independent study.

pbradley 08.30.2007 03:18 PM

Ah, maybe I'm just complaining because I've seen such naivety in people older than she is. I've met twenty-somethings that would have a hard time with the same problem and I can see Miss Teen SC being one of them. There's a point in which a person overcomes their circumstances, no matter which lot you get. I just hope that she can see why people were laughing at her/her answer and maybe hopefully reflect on the fact.
