After watching BERNIE, I said to my friend, "That kinda sorta made me want to visit Texas."

He said, "That made me never want to visit Texas."

But I liked the quaint suburbia depicted. And aren't there mountains and shit? Plus big cities like Dallas and Houston, with hipster pockets like Austin and Pheonix? Could it be that Texas is the greatest, most American state of all?

Rob Instigator 03.04.2013 09:00 AM

Bernie was a good watch.

West texas has moutnains like a motherfucker. West texas is like the old west.

eastern texas is like the deep south.

The hill country in the middle (where austin is at) is it's own thing too.

evollove 03.04.2013 09:54 AM

So I was right. A trip to Texas is now on my radar. Thanks for the great pics.

Rob Instigator 03.04.2013 09:58 AM

Just remember, that Texas is about 900+ miles across, and about 1000 miles from top to bottom. You gots to get green on them road-trips!

Epic mountains, 1000 miles from top to bottom.. sounds familiar, like a friendlier less backwoods version ;)

West Texas cowboys they'z all around.. with liquor and money they'z loaded down.. so soon after payday it seemed a shame.. you know my uncle he starts a friendly game, hey high low jack and the winner takes the hand.."

Rob Instigator 03.04.2013 02:04 PM

hahah! I have been to California many times, north and south, and in between, and I found the exact same ratio of backwoods bumpkins as in Texas! And believe me, the folks are far friendlier in texas.

EVOLghost 03.04.2013 02:13 PM

pissing contest aside...

Those are some nice pictures. Road trips are amazing(when I'm driving I'm in my happy place :P ). Looks like I need to plan one to the west. I was trying for one in the summer....but I wasn't able to problems with my license(NOT DUI OR DRUG RELATED!) and that'll be fixed son enough....but I really want to drive in the desert.

Rob Instigator 03.04.2013 02:19 PM

It is great. make sure your car is tuned up though!

Rob Instigator 03.04.2013 02:20 PM

Ain't that the truth? From my house here in LA in a single day, you can catch a gorgeous morning at the rugged cliff beaches of Palos Verde, then zig zag through urban sprawl towards to beautiful meadows in the hillsides at the foot of the San Gabriels. Keep heading north-east from there and pause for lunch in mesmerizing Spruce and Pine forests straight from the nightmares of the Brothers Grimm. Then climb upwards and even at this time of the year you can find yourself in a white-out blizzard in our local Bear mountains, and drive own into the desert for an epic purple sunset across the colors of sand and rock. Literally, we have everything. I have thought of leaving, but LA is like a vortex. The furthest I could get would be somewhere else in California..

on the subject of this thread's OP, i read this weekend about some 5 year old girl who was beaten to death and raped "everywhere" by her own father, who is scott-free in saudi arabia after paying $50K "blood money."

this is a bit of old news since things were first reported back in october and then again in february but i thought i'd mention.

i rarely get weepy with the news, as a matter of fact i'm often "oh shit, that's terrible, move on", but this got to me. fucking shit.

http://rt.com/news/saudi-preacher-fine-rape-333/

anyway, sorry if it's too much atrocity.

Rob Instigator 03.04.2013 03:36 PM

Yeah, topographically, California's hard to beat.

^ What wisdom did he share? I missed it. Ended up watching someone discuss the problems he has with drone strikes against Americans on foreign soil. It actually ended up making me feel slightly better about such actions.

Today is my wife and I's wedding anniversary. Yay!

EVOLghost 11.11.2013 07:26 PM
