Year of the Lips

I'm going to start a thread about this 'mysterious' 'group'

http://www.myspace.com/yearofthelipsmusic

Good things from someone apparently too modest to tell the world the music they make is literally 'not as shit as the majority of music made by people'.

I particularly like how one of the tunes (signal to earth) sounds alarmingly like a track off the first Team Brick record but better.

I've got the CDR and I love it so much.

Glice 02.21.2009 10:47 AM

Sounds and processing. Not really noise. EQ ahoy.

it's one of the boardies, he's British, and can be a mean prick as well as a totally sweet guy. one of my favourites in this wreckage.

Fixed.

mi scusi ;)

You can tell, because if you spell "Year of the Lips" backwards, it comes out "L-A-T-I-N L-O-V-E-R".

Year Of The Lips gets one of my highest ratings - seven thumbs up. Can't someone out there get this artiste onto vinyl?

pokkeherrie 02.21.2009 01:36 PM

I liked the track that was played on Art for Spastics, so I'll definitely be checking these out.

Savage Clone 02.21.2009 02:05 PM

Much enjoyment!

noisereductions 02.21.2009 02:37 PM

so it's sarramkrop?

Savage Clone 02.21.2009 10:56 PM

This thread prompted me to spin these tracks for the first time in a few weeks, and damned if I'm not hit over and over again by how talented our Italian friend is. I've always enjoyed porky's music, but he took some kind of quantum leap forward in the last year or two, seriously.

sarramkrop 02.22.2009 03:28 AM

Thanks for your comments, they are really appreciated.

It's true that it's in the past year I started taking myself more seriously. I went through a phase of just abandoning the whole thing 'cause I felt directionless, so last summer I was going home after work listening to Ashtray Navigations and Astral Social Club before bedtime, imagining it would be fun playing in those bands, and one night I just decided to pick up an instrument again, so that was it. Not that I sound remotely like any of those names, I just happen to find the way they approach things inspirational. I try not to play/record music now unless I feel 100% mentally and physically into it 'cause it shows too much when I'm not.

Again, thank you for listening.

fugazifan 02.22.2009 04:48 AM
