Not that up on J Pop but I do love Perfume. I Heard Glitter first, a few months ago, and I've been hooked since. Love them. Would also add 1mm to their list although Glitter's still the one for me.

I'm surprised "Kill Yr Idols" was number 4.

Beck - Morning Phase, won album of the year during last nights Grammy's.

Beck and Chris Martin of Coldplay performed together......somewhere Jim O'Rourke is smiling

Besides their amazing performance, I also enjoyed:

Annie Lennox......sings by herself towards end.

Electric Light Orchestra

Ed Sheridan, Herrbie Hancock, John Mayer and the drummer from, The Roots were pretty amazing as well......John Mayer was channeling, Buddy Holly

Blood_Promise 02.09.2015 01:00 PM

Really glad that Beck won that Grammy.

great "comeback" album but i'd say she had a bunch of better albums in the 90s.

rebeccagotcursedout 02.12.2015 06:41 PM

i don't know what's worse. discussing what the definition of what pop music is or the argument of rockist vs. popist. which seems to be the product of pitchfork and ultra post ironic writers these days before, after and beyond.

the fact is...it doesn't matter. even if yr willing to study any or all other genres as the same in one or whether as an participant or a witness to whats commonly enjoyable to the masses.

Not enough hours in the day for me to listen to vapid flavor of the month top 40 crap just to prove I'm not an elitist music snob.
I own my elitism and I am not ashamed of it.

rebeccagotcursedout 02.12.2015 06:58 PM

the Beyonce album was good and excellant. but the fact is, Beck's album was choosing by his peers. or they say.

what's revolutionary and new and what's not shouldn't matter in this time and age.

an old man sitting on a stool playing blues or someone shitting into a mic shouldn't have to compete with mind blowing productions on an R@B album. it's all about popular opinions

it's all the same. kinda ironic since that's what beck was trying to say over a decade ago, and im not much of a Beck fan anyway.

i know what yr saying and maybe im contridicting myself.

do others don't invest much into some songs or mainstream music, listening wise, than others would with their favored offed genres?

are there just exceptions to the rule? like those late beatles records? or the new beyonce record, or mainstream hip hop or classic new wave records? which are slim and far inbetween and everything else is just shit?

if that's so, then yr right?

i think what matters is....is that once in awhile there is a pop record that comes along that introduces their audience to something that they dont normally hear with their peers or on the radio. not just in sound because today that's pretty easy with the technology, but something with aesthetics.

that's maybe avant pop and that is truly revolutionary.

rebeccagotcursedout 02.12.2015 07:53 PM

but then again, the upcoming generation might not give a fuck about all that. what's the real concern is the masses as monkeys like they are now but even worse.

popism vs aestheticism. i like that better
