How about some Buy Early Get Now shenanigans for Lee's album? Just sayin'!

nicfit 01.06.2012 03:07 PM

Good Idea.
I'd Buy Early with no doubts whatsoever.

I was looking forward too that one too when plans were announced, never heard if they had done the recording or not. If it's in the bag that would be awesome, if not done yet probably no chance in the post T/K split era.

Yoko's early LPs w/ John are rad:
Unfinished music No. 2: My Life with the Lions
Plastic Ono Band
Fly

I really liked seeing Thurston taking John's role on guitar in their occasional live performances together.

It was bound to happen, the man had a good run.

To quote Bon Jovi, Thurston is "not old. Just older."

I don't know why I just did that. I'm so sorry, everyone...

Bummer, but expected — those BEGN dealie-o-yos are usually announced about four months prior to release date, aren't they?

Sweet!

Off-topic, but what the fuck: Bangs directed the video for Belle & Sebastian's "Dirty Dream Number Two" — to anyone who hasn't seen it, check out who appears on screen during the bridge.

It was on the Japanese edition of Mirror Traffic...

I assume you're being sarcastic... I would like to buy this $1.98 sampler even if the tracks aren't exclusive but the fact that it's $16 to ship to the UK has put me off.

Chris Lawrence 01.17.2012 03:45 AM

i wonder if my local shop will have one (and if it will be $1.98!). but i guess it already came out? oops...

their labeling of both tracks as "unreleased" is a bit dubious! were there any other MIRROR TRAFFIC outtakes released?

Amazon.com are selling it for $6.98 even though it states on the cover "PAY NO MORE THAN $1.98"

I don't know of any other Mirror Traffic outtakes that were released but there are plenty of unreleased Malkmus songs... SM & the Jicks did perform Surreal Teenagers for the Jimmy Fallon show as a web exclusive but I can't find the video online anywhere now.

Pelle 01.17.2012 08:39 AM

Flaming Lips / Lee Ranaldo ? Ohh, I'm waiting.

Moshe 01.24.2012 07:27 AM

Steve plays on the new M Ward album too:

Sounds promising. I haven't really been taken by a new M. Ward album since Transistor Radio. The first tune is clearly a Chilton tribute of some sort - gotta give it a spin.
