bands that have a good "look"...

stupid thread, but what are some bands that you think have an overall cool or interesting look or aesthetic.

i think:
the damned
the velvet underground
most early no wave bands
magma
darkthrone
bloodyminded
boredoms
the cramps
the birthday party
wu tang clan
the butthole surfers
lightning bolt
parliament funkadelic
early thrash bands (slayer, metallica, testament, that whole dirtbag metalhead thing)
mc5
suicide

feel free to post on this if you are that fucking bored

Dir en grey

They have a good good balanced mix between dressy visual kei, and raw violence. The transistion between them kind of make the image work. It might be hard to grasp from pictures, though...

GrungeMonkey 07.15.2008 03:08 PM

the white stripes can attribute a lot of their success to the red, white and black aesthetic i think

^^^I saw them on their first British tour in 1992. Kat Bjelland played guiar with more balls than more male guitarists did back then. She also played a mean slide guitar using a broken cassette case. What a hero, eh?

*Thinks about getting hold of "Spanking Machine" again.

Cantanky - She always came across as a nice and decent person in interviews...I wonder how she must have felt about Courtney Love appropriating a lot of her "look"...well, Kat had/has talent to burn, so never mind Mrs Cobain...

Well of course you'll hate it if you go for bands with no look whatsoever.

kat and courtney were still, like, best friends even through all the fighting over the dresses and shit...oh well.
but kat did invent it. courtney popularised it though. for the record i like hole and babes equally.

they do have a look. everyone has a look whether they like it or not. they wore weird jumpers and straight jeans and had long, lank hair.

MellySingsDoom 07.15.2008 03:23 PM

Ladiiees and Gents, give it up for Kat Bjelland:

Cantankerous 07.15.2008 03:26 PM

MellySingsDoom 07.15.2008 03:27 PM

She's looking damn fine indeed these days, and she's 8 years older than me!

acousticrock87 07.15.2008 03:43 PM
